**Main purpose of the job**:
- Assist in ensuring that HIV viral load testing and EID program is aligned to national ART guidelines, thus ensuring a well-coordinated and functional HIV viral load and EID testing program
**Location**:
- **WDIH - Parktown, Johannesburg**
**Key performance areas**:
- Ensure facilities have all applicable handbooks, all facility staff are trained on how to use the handbooks and monitor compliance thereof e.g. Primary healthcare (PHC) laboratory handbook, NHLS laboratory user handbook), standard operating procedures (SOPs), Job aids, HIV rapid test quality improvement training package, and other relevant guidelines
- Identify gaps within the clinic and provide the necessary information and support by co-ordinating training at the regional training centers
- Provide technical advice and mentoring to clinical staff at healthcare facilities
- Provide technical advice on result interpretation of HIV VL and TB Testing and ensure staff track performance on turn-around time of HIV VL and TB tests; specimen handling; result management and documentation in charts and Tier.net
- Work with facility managers and the district leadership to ensure each POCT (e.g. Rapid HIV testing) and laboratory site supported is enrolled in proficiency testing (PT)
- Work with the facility manager to ensure each POCT (e.g. Rapid HIV testing) site implements Independent Quality Control (IQC) and maintains an updated record of the activity on-site
- Maintain a comprehensive record of PT and CQI scores for all facilities. supported
- Work with NHLS and facility manager to facilitate access of the facility to NHLS Web View and or eLABS for test results
- Facilitate engagement, communication, and collaboration between the facility and laboratories in the area
- Work with the facility manager to develop a system to monitor access to and use of NHLS “Results for Action” reports and eLABS results for action (where available)
- Maintain on-site records of all support rendered including training, interventions, meetings, supervisory visits, etc.
- Work collaboratively with district leadership, facility managers, and NHLS laboratory in the area to ensure implementation and correct usage of the eLABS system at the facilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports including PowerPoint presentations as requested by management, and report directly to the CDC Program Manager
**Required minimum education and training**:
- **Diploma in Biomedical Technology**:
- **Train the Trainer Certification is advantageous**:
- **_Drivers Licence is required_**
**Required minimum work experience**:
- **2 years experience in HIV viral load and early infant diagnosis laboratory testing**
**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:
- Post-qualification experience within an appropriate clinical setting
- Basic Assessor Training is desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the HIV guidelines, HTS guidelines, Primary health laboratory handbooks, NHLS laboratory user handbook, and job aids
- An understanding of the HIV rapid test quality improvement training package
- Understanding of laboratory QMS including molecular
- GLP training will be an advantage
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the national core standards of health
- Problem-solving & analytical skills with computer literacy will be required
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively will be beneficial
- Planning and organization skills
