**Regional Manager Overview/Description**

The primary role of the Regional Manager is to direct, manage, improve and monitor GLS Business Unit operations for the Northern Region
- **Operational Management**:
Direct, control and report on regional operational performance measured against SLA and KPI in accordance with SOP- increase productivity and operational excellence.
- **Financial Management**:
Actual against budget - plan, sign off, control and report. Internal and client sales cost accounting functions and administration.
- **HR & People Development**:
Oversee the HR function of several business units and manage exceptions. Support, coach and mentor allocated teams. Maximize productivity - succession planning, recruitment and staff development.
- **Operational Efficiency**:
Continuous improvement through processes, people and technology and reduce costs. Implement and maintain LEAN operations to maximize productivity and improve efficiencies.
- **Projects**:
Identify, plan and execute new initiatives on project plans.
- **Client Interaction**:
Regular reporting, scheduled meetings, Steercoms, planning sessions, improvements and ad-hoc communication, workshops & engagements
- **Labour Relations**:
Scheduled and ad-hoc interaction with UNIONS, representatives, workplace forums including representation at the CCMA.
- **Assets & Stock**:
Control and manage business assets responsibly and efficiently. Regular stock takes and auditing.
- **Vendors & Supplier Management**

Steer, direct and control vendors, partners and service suppliers’ deliveries, service levels and associated financial accounting.
- **Infrastructure**:
Manage, control and maintain rented and owned infrastructure, warehousing and capital assets.
- **Occupational Health & Safety**

Knowledge of Health and Safety systems and legal requirements in accordance with the OHS Act and other statutory and client requirements.
- **Communication**:
Vertical and lateral, verbal and written to all levels, informative, instructive, functional and feedback both internally and externally.

Passionate leadership, resourcefulness, confidence and the ability to work under pressure are key characteristics of the Regional Manager. Delivery of exceptional service to internal and external stake holders is a fundamental objective of this role.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead, manage and control the work performed by GLS within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that all staff know and understands relevant SOP and comply with it.
- Monitor, measure and improve productivity with the region.
- Lead and continue to build a leadership team within the region.
- Accountable for all GLS assets within the region.
- Responsible for control and flow of all financial accounting administration within the region.
- Manage, monitor and comply with budget targets and limits.
- Responsible to manage owned and rented facilities and infrastructure within the region.
- Accountable for compliance and adherence to all Health and Safety policies and procedures (Internal and Client).
- Regular formal and incidental interaction and engagement with own and clients’ management team to report, provide feedback, guide and direct operations and business outcomes.
- Manage relationships with vendors and service suppliers.
- Oversee payroll accuracy and approvals.
- Engage, plan and execute operations and new project in combination with other divisions within the business.
- Basic warehouse and stock management (movement/stock-takes/losses/write-offs/adjustments etc)
- Chair disciplinary hearings and be able to perform basic disciplinary investigations.
- Regular formal and ad-hoc engagement and communication with labour and their representatives to discuss and resolve recurring issues, exceptions and ensure staff welfare and raise morale.
- Ensure all financial documentation is completed, properly authorized and submitted on-time for billing/reporting.
- Generate plans, reports, SOPs and presentations to support GLS business initiatives, projects and operations.

**Competencies**

**Knowledge**
- Computer Literacy (MS Office).
- Understanding of the Health and Safety act. (including Covid-19 Requirements)
- Basic Economic and Financial skills
- Understanding of the BCEA and LRA
