**Role**

Given the high unemployment rates amongst the youth, the inability to cope with the real life demands of corporate life and the lack of exposure to the core engineering functions which results in inadequate experience, numerous individuals are sitting without the necessary experience to enter the corporate world. We understand that Millennials have been dealt a bad hand, and that the problem is getting worst. This internship has been tailor-made to empower Millennials with the transition towards the corporate environment.

You will form part of a group of recently qualified engineers and technicians with the end goal of ultimately enrolling for the formal programme to register as a professional engineer, technologist or technician. You will be taking responsibility of small entry level projects.

He has successfully mentored and developed junior engineers and his track record includes bringing project values down from R70 million to R22 million by taking the project through the proper lifecycles, managing contracts from feasibility to commissioning, optimising engineering designs by bringing the cost down by 15% and developing project specific specifications.

**Characteristics & competencies**
- A diploma in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering (not negotiable). A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- As a minimum a formal certificate in project management (not negotiable)
- Proficient in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and able to learn new software.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Ultimately being responsible for managing aspects of engineering projects which would typically and initially include the management of a project from concept, through execution to final close-out
- Liaison with all stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget in accordance with the quality requirements set out for project
- Taking ownership for project by ensuring effective and efficient coordination of the installation
- Identify and action project related problems
- Organises project through development and execution of project plans, along with the identification of milestones to be achieved
- Ensure proper project reporting by means of accurate capture and distribution of project information such that project status can be reported on
- Ensure that related codes, standards, protocols, guidelines and methodologies are being carried out
- Ensure sign-off of installations and ensuring that the billing is carried out timeously
- Compilation of close-out files
- Take ownership of and drive pre-sales engagement activities with prospective customers and existing client base
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
- Develop and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks
- Maintains historical records on area and customer sales
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
