Conservation South Africa (CSA) is an independent affiliate of Conservation International that seeks to secure key reservoirs of nature across South Africa for the benefit of all drawing on best practices from our global affiliate. Our Vision is a South Africa where growth and development are catalyzed through the sustainable stewardship of nature. We do this through working closely with the government, local communities, NGO’s and the private sector to create scalable green economic demonstrations underpinned by climate science within the Namakwa District Municipality (Northern Cape), Alfred Nzo District Municipality (Eastern Cape), and the Greater Kruger Landscape (Mpumalanga and Limpopo). Conservation South Africa has a vacancy for a Senior Director HR, Operations, and Corporate Affairs who will be responsible for leading the integration of our Human-Centered Conservation activities (for example Jobs 4 Nature, Green Learning and Communities and Conservation) into organizational development and design (OD) - developing HR, Operations and Corporate Affairs approaches that drive workforce effectiveness and enable a high performing organization along with fit for purpose structures and skill mixes, and a continuous learning culture which has inclusivity at its core. The role will ensure a highly impactful and nature-positive human experience for all staff, beneficiaries, and partners of CSA - driving the sustainable stewardship of key reservoirs of nature across South Africa through human-centered conservation design.

The Senior Director HR, Operations, and Corporate Affairs will drive organizational culture change, leadership development, and employee development and engagement, with a focus on strengthening and improving corporate services while shaping and developing a “People Team” to deliver high-impact programs through our Jobs 4 Nature, Communities and Conservation and Green Learning portfolios.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Director will be to lead relevant People programmes ensuring that they are business orientated, fit-for-purpose, and focused on performance improvement for CSA. In this way, the Senior Director will make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the strategic agenda and aims of CSA by developing insight-led people and workforce strategies to ensure that CSA can deliver and embed culture and change programmes that modernize and transform the way we work and build our organization and deliver impact to the communities and ecosystems we serve.

The Senior Director will ensure that Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity are embedded throughout the People Plan and all people-related activities, and will ensure that CSA staff, beneficiaries, and partners have a positive “People” experience in all engagements with our organization.

***RESPONSIBILITIES**

Provide leadership and strategic oversight for streamlining all People, Organizational Development, and Operational and Corporate Affairs processes to enable the delivery of human-centered conservation activities across CSA
- Develop, implement, and operationalize a compelling and engaging People Plan to deliver on Human-Centered Conservation strategies that are aligned with the new refreshed strategic goals and business plans, focusing on performance, quality outputs, and measurable indicators with clarity on how success and impact will be managed.
- Develop OD approaches within the People Plan, that are aligned to the refreshed strategy and support the organization through change, enabling a high-performance culture through a highly developed, agile, engaged, and inclusive workforce supported by well-aligned and integrated operations.
- Serve as a trusted partner, strategic advisor, and confidante for the Executive and Country Management Teams and able to think holistically to solve evolving organizational requirements.
- Work in partnership with leaders across all corporate functions to shape and deliver strategic initiatives.
- In partnership with the Deputy Country Director pre-empts / proactively identifies and develops the strategic capabilities required for future business success and growth.
