**Job Title**: Payroll Officer (Full Function)

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to manage the full payroll function for our organization. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing and timely disbursement of employee wages, statutory deductions, and related reports. You will also be the point of contact for any payroll-related queries and ensure compliance with local tax regulations and labor laws.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Full Payroll Function**: Process monthly for all employees, ensuring accuracy in pay calculations, bonuses, deductions, and overtime.
- **Employee Data Management**: Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and changes in employee details.
- **Statutory Compliance**: Ensure compliance with all South African tax laws, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL. Calculate and process relevant tax deductions and file monthly statutory returns.
- **Reconciliation**: Reconcile payroll reports with accounting records and resolve any discrepancies.
- **Payroll Reporting**: Generate and submit payroll-related reports to HR, finance, and other departments as required. Prepare and issue pay slips to employees.
- **Tax Year-End Processing**: Assist with annual tax year-end processes, including generating IRP5s, reconciling employee tax data, and assisting with audits.
- **Compliance & Audits**: Ensure compliance with all relevant labor and tax laws, handling audits and requests from SARS, UIF, and other regulatory bodies.
- **Employee Queries**: Address and resolve employee queries regarding pay, deductions, and benefits in a timely and professional manner.
- **System Management**: Maintain and update payroll software and systems, ensuring all payroll data is secure and backed up regularly.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration.
- A relevant qualification in Accounting, Payroll, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL.
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g., SAGE, VIP Payroll, PaySpace) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with employees and management.

**Desired Skills**:

- Knowledge of accounting systems and integration with payroll software.
- Experience with statutory filings and reporting.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced or large organization is an advantage.
