**About the role**
The Volunteer Coordinator will provide information, support and respond to enquiries from volunteers to ensure they are ready and prepared for the companies Expedition.
You will ensure a high level of customer service and information is provided throughout the volunteer journey, from booking to departure. The ability to understand the needs of volunteers of all ages (and the parents and guardians of our younger travellers) and engage and motivate is essential. You will help to design & deliver pre-Expedition training events for our volunteers.
**About you**
We are looking for an individual who is keen to be part of a small start-up team, eager to get stuck into your role whilst taking the initiative to go the extra mile to help the team on wider projects. We would expect this to be your 1st job after leaving university or 2nd or 3rd job after leaving school. We expect you to be able to work independently and stay motivated throughout administrative tasks, whilst also coming up with new ideas to support in improving systems and processes. You should be passionate about delivering a high level of customer service and working with young people.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, volunteer managers and their parents & guardians from booking - training - to departure.
- Support and guide volunteers through the administrative process required to participate on the companies Expedition (for example, organising visas, vaccinations, and flights) and ensure it is all complete prior to departure
- Engage and motivate volunteers about their overseas programme and ensure they are fully prepared
- Contribute to developing and delivering online Pre-Expedition Training events
- Update and develop informative resources for volunteers
- Communicate with country operation teams regarding volunteer details
- Use our CRM tool to effectively keep volunteer information up to date
- Proactively look for customer service improvements
**Skills and Experience**
**Essential**
- Degree educated or A-level (or other high school qualification) in English and maths or science
- Proven experience in customer service
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confident and enthusiastic manner face-to-face and over the phone
- Proven experience in administration
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
**Desirable**
- ICS or similar
- Experience of CRM systems
- Experience of analysing data and writing reports
- Experience in a volunteer support role
- Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality over personal information

**Job Type**: Permanent
