**KITCHEN OPERATIONS MANAGER**
With 10 years of service to our homeless community, the Kitchen is a central space for diverse volunteers to serve our beneficiaries to access the basic need of hearty, nutritious meals.
The Kitchen Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for the management of volunteers working at the kitchen.
This will be a full time position based at the Kitchen in Cape Town and will report into the Programmes Director.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Strong communication skills, conflict resolution skills, and crisis intervention skills are required;
- Must posses excellent command of the English language;
- Demonstrate maturity, good judgment and ability to respond quickly & calmly in a crisis situations and to follow directions;
- Able to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and related software;
- Self-starter and team oriented;
- Strong customer service skills;
- Motivated to end hunger through daily service and with internal and external collaboration
**RESPONSIBILITIES** INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO**:
- Orientation, supervision, training, scheduling and delegation of assignments to volunteers;
- assist with the cooking of meals when required;
- maintain sanitary conditions in accordance with health and safety regulations;
- maintain kitchen appliances and ensure safe operation of same;
- menu planning and implementation;
- manage and effectively use donated foods;
- responsible for ordering and receiving goods;
- record volunteer hours, meals served and client statistics;
- monthly and weekly reports to Programmes Director;
- coordinate on-site weekend and evening meal;
- coordinate use of kitchen facilities by corporates/group bookings;
- maintain monthly calendar of on-site and off-site community meals for patrons;
- maintain stock of cleaning, household, and kitchen supplies;
- assist in creation and revision of kitchen procedures, policies, forms and logs;
- assist with public relations efforts;
- attend weekly tracker meetings;
- other duties as assigned by programme director;
- must be prepared to work over the festive season.
**QUALIFICATION**
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- 3 - 5 years food service management experience;
- Prior experience of working with highly vulnerable population would be beneficial;
- A valid driver's license and own vehicle is highly advantageous because of operational times.
This person needs to be driven by purpose and to have a passion for helping others;
This person needs to see the value and appreciate the importance of preparing good food for our homeless guests;
Whilst it is an operation role, we do need somebody who enjoys cooking and has a passion for food and coming up with menus and ideas when it comes to bulk cooking;
We would like this person to become the ‘heart and soul’ of the kitchen, be the person that greets our volunteers and makes them feel welcome, to bring a positive vibe to the kitchen.
