**_ Position Purpose:_**
To build a positive image and reputation of the organisation through meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships
between TNPA Port of East London and its stakeholders, thereby facilitating the positioning of Transnet National Ports
Authority in line with the Transnet strategic direction
**_ Position outputs:_**
Corporate Strategy
- To support the Transnet National Ports Authority communication strategy based on the organisational Corporate Plan
- To implement initiatives as outlined in the Port Operational Plan
Corporate Image
- Implement and roll out the corporate strategy to build a positive corporate image of the Port of East London thereby
enhancing the image of the organisation among external stakeholders
- Proactively mitigate reputation risks that could impact negatively on the corporate image
- Maintain a positive corporate image
Marketing Communication
- Customer relationship management through various initiatives
- Port promotional campaigns to create top-of-the-mind awareness of the port and its activities/facilities
- Brand building initiatives eg. Advertising
Corporate Social Investment
- CSI plan in line with Transnet CSI Strategy/Policy
- Engagement of communities through CSI initiatives to build a positive image of the organisation and create awareness of the
brand
- Media Relations
- Develop and implement Media Relations plan in line with the strategy
- Outline the purpose of media communication
- Develop key messages, either issues driven, or specific event driven
- Identify the appropriate medium per message
- Identify the target audience of the intended message
- Focused messages per target audience, not a ‘shot gun’ approach
- Well trained, well spoken and knowledgeable Spokesperson for the port to be viewed as a credible source of information
- Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the media
- Develop an educated circle of Journalists
Stakeholder Management
- Representation at various port related forums eg. Port/City Forum
- To develop a positive network with the various external stakeholder groups:
- International, regional, local trade & business delegations
- Opinion Formers eg. Consuls/Embassies
- Customers
- Associations
- Protocol and Government liaison
- Communities
- General public
- To utilize this network for a planned communications programme across all platforms for brand-building and to lobby support
- To develop a positive relationship with external stakeholders through a planned communication programme across all
platforms in order to build the brand externally and secure positive support for the brand
- Events Management
- Plan external events calendar for the year for the Port
- Organise events
Leadership Role
- Achieve deliverables of the corporate strategy
