**Role purpose**:
Responsible for leading and further developing a comprehensive privacy program for VSA and its subsidiaries, which incudes but not limited to:
Building a culture of privacy and accountability from senior leadership cascading down to operational teams within VSA and its subsidiaries.
Leading the implementation and embedment of privacy controls and requirements, including Vodacom group and Vodafone privacy requirements.
Leading or supporting engagement with regulators and other external bodies on various privacy matters and topics relevant to VSA.
Fulfil the role of Deputy Information Officer for VSA under the Protection of Personal Information Act, no 4 of 2013(POPIA) and its regulations.

**Your responsibilities will include**:
**Privacy legal advisory and external influence.**
Manage the execution of privacy legal reviews and advisory, which includes approval of data processing agreements.
Assess and set personal data sharing frameworks and requirements, which includes mergers and acquisitions relevant to VSA.
Manage or support regulatory and privacy policy engagement with external stakeholders such as the Information Regulator of South Africa on various privacy matters.

**Privacy-by-Design & support for strategic projects, products and services rollout.**
Lead the delivery of privacy-by-design and assurance (SPDA) reviews for new processing of personal data.
Ensure privacy risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated before projects, products and services are launched.

**Privacy Operations**
Lead the ongoing maintenance and development of the personal data processing registers for VSA, including their associated privacy impact assessments in line with Vodacom/Vodafone standards and methodologies.
Lead the execution of the privacy function responsibilities under the VSA data breach management process in partnership with the Cybersecurity, Corporate Communications and other business areas in VSA.
Lead the delivery of privacy awareness and training, including specialised role-based training where required.
Lead the adequate embedment of the privacy SPOC and privacy champion roles in partnership with the relevant business areas across VSA.
Support the resolution of privacy complaints in partnership the relevant customer-facing business area in VSA.
Setting out the VSA privacy program agenda, which includes delivery of privacy controls and new privacy program elements and requirements set by the Vodacom group and Vodafone.

**Privacy Governance, Risk and Compliance.**
Lead the privacy control monitoring and assurance activities in area of responsibility and in partnership with other assurance providers in VSA.
Lead the privacy risk management and reporting for VSA.
Oversee and manage Vodacom SA subsidiaries privacy compliance.
Lead the delivery of privacy KRIs and reporting; and ensure same can be used by business areas to mitigate privacy risk.

**Must have technical / professional qualifications**:
Strong educational background in a relevant field such as Legal/Compliance/Information technology/Engineering/Commercial/Business degree or privacy-related disciplines (NQF 7 equivalent).
Additional professional relevant certification will be an advantage such as CIPP/E, CIPT, or CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

**A minimum of 10 years relevant experience, with exposure to the following**:
Legal, risk and compliance focusing on privacy.
Ability to build relationships and influence senior leaders within an organisation.
Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
Excellent reporting and presentation skills
Experience in fulling the role/duties of the Data Privacy/Protection Officer/Deputy Information Officer (as prescribed in POPIA) will be advantageous.

**Ability to set out and lead the VSA privacy program, which includes VSA’s subsidiaries.**
Ability to lead a privacy office/function for a large organisation
Ability to lead and manage the execution of the following privacy capabilities within the privacy office/function:
Privacy Legal Advisory and External Influence.
Privacy-by-Design & Support for Strategic Projects, Products and Services Rollout.
Privacy Operations.
Privacy Governance, Risk and Compliance.
Ability to lead a team of privacy specialist executing on the above capabilities and in so doing, support the localisation and customisation of the outputs from these privacy capabilities for consumption within the Vodacom group.

**Risk and Compliance**:
Ability to identify, assess and report material privacy risks and issues impacting VSA and providing direction regarding mitigating and/or remediation actions to be in conjunction with VSA senior management and business leaders.

**Engagement with regulators, external bodies, and customers on privacy matters.**
Ability to lead the response to customers on privacy matters and complaints; and regulatory privacy enquiries in conjunction with the relevant business area/s in VSA. Moreover,
