MES is a national non-profit organisation, fighting the war against poverty, human suffering and exclusion. We feel blessed to have operations in multiple centres in our country including Kempton Park, Hillbrow, Cape Town and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and we appreciate the rich learning that multi-site operations affords us. Our work consists of both relief interventions as well as holistic training programmes that deliver long-term results for the poorest of the poor.

Our multidisciplinary therapeutic team (comprising, amongst others, of occupational therapists, social workers and social auxiliary workers) works alongside our work team managers to create sustainable employment opportunities in our cities. These opportunities provide rich learning environments where beneficiaries receive the opportunity to acquire new skills, valuable work experience, resilience and an increased independence which sets them up for long-term success.

It gives us great joy to see individuals transformed from hopeless, destitute, dependent people, into thriving, working, interdependent individuals who hold down jobs and provide sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their loved ones.

Cape Town has about 35 staff located in 3 locations.The individual will be based at the Durbanville Homeless Support Centre and provide services to their clients.

This position is for a **full day, in-person Social Worker**

**Key Areas of Responsibility include**:

- Develop IDP with the clients
- Conduct therapy to MES clients
- Facilitate group sessions for Change Readiness levels
- Conduct family preservation services to MES clients
- Network / Collaborate witih other stakeholders in order to help the client holistically
- Keep records of services rendered (compile stats and process notes)

**Qualifications & Experience**
- BA Social Work (required)
- Driver’s license (required)
- Good communication and active listening skills
- 2 years’ experience working within the addiction and homelessness fields (preferred)
