**ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW**
United Way South Africa (UWSA) is among the newest members of the worldwide United Way network. UWSA is located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, which is considered to be the economic gateway and most powerful commercial centre on the African continent. With Gauteng having more than 12 million inhabitants, Johannesburg is one of the largest cities in Africa. United Way South Africa works with local corporations, the government and well-established community impact partners in order to create stable income opportunities for South African youth. It is currently rolling out initiatives focused on creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth, providing business skills and entrepreneurship training for small and youth owned enterprises, and facilitating educational opportunity channels for high school learners through skills assessments, career days, extra tuition classes, as well as trade learning opportunities.
**OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES**
Under supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, this position builds, supports, and advances high-quality, year-round relationships with key segments of individuals; particularly donors, implementing partners and beneficiaries of United Way South Africa (UWSA). The key outcomes of the role are to:
- Attract and sustain resources (financial, volunteer and advocacy)
- Support UWSA’s strategic direction and community initiatives
- Maximize potential participation and reach in regard to UWSA’s mission
This role leads consultations and negotiations with donors and other partner organizations to meet our community’s ongoing needs and grow UWSA’s network of philanthropy. The objective of the role is to strategically use identified resource gaps and priorities identified by the regions/sectors to mobilize funding in a targeted way, in particular from workplace campaigns, and the development of new public private partnerships. The role maintains and develops relationships with donors, leads submission and negotiation of project proposals, maintains official communication with donors and other partners; facilitates the drafting of partnership proposals and agreements, and monitors their compliance to these.
The role reports directly to the executive director and as such will be a member of the UWSA senior management team sharing collective responsibility to deliver the organisation's strategy and vision - a future where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives.
The Resource Mobilisation Manager may at times be required to lead a team of community impact and fundraising professionals to provide the necessary vision, leadership, and skills which will enable the organisation to achieve its targets and strategic objectives.
They will have substantial experience leading community impact strategy and programmes, a talent for building relationships and a proven track record in achieving deep community impact objectives.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
1. Main Responsibilities
1.1 Relationship and Campaign Management
- Execute and develop annual engagement plans and key metrics for donors and volunteers, building donor centric experiences through personalized engagement and involvement in giving, advocating and volunteering with United Way.
- Coordinate all aspects of identifying and implementing workplace campaigns in education, financial stability and health, collaborating with various partners to meet the maximum financial resource potential of each specific business/partnership and identifying areas of growth for giving, including developing pledge materials.
- Research, identify and develop relationships with lapsed, lapsing and non-giving accounts to establish new account development.
- Manage donor data and account profiles such as inputting donor visit/ communication notes, updating donor names and contact information, resolving account conflicts and producing ongoing donor and prospect research.
- Populate reports as they relate to campaign summaries and donor activity.
- Coordinate implementation of all community impact strategies, including investments, collective impact, place-based work, volunteerism, and public policy and advocacy, to make progress on the adopted community-wide goals.
- Ensure integration and alignment of goals, outcomes and strategies across education, financial stability, and health.
- Maintain knowledge of best practice resource mobilisation models and standards.
- Participate in UWSA priority setting process.
- Drive data-driven and continuous learning processes for resource mobilisation.
- Serves as primary volunteer of the UWSA Fundraising Steering Committee, and other appropriate high-level committees.
