Who are we?
Sanlam was established as a life insurance company in South Africa but has since transformed into a diversified financial services group that operates across the African continent, India, Malaysia and selected developed markets, with listings on the Johannesburg, A2X and Namibian stock exchanges. In 2018 the Group celebrated its centenary as well as 20 years since demutualisation and listing in South Africa and Namibia. Sanlam is one of the largest internationally active insurance groups in the world with a presence in 43 countries and has the biggest non-banking financial services footprint on the African continent.
The Group's four business clusters (Sanlam Life and Savings, Sanlam Investment Group, Sanlam Emerging Markets and Santam) house the Group's business operations. The Group Office provides strategic direction and support to the four clusters, assisting them in realising their strategies and meeting their business objectives. The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group's centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Strategy, Human Resources, Market Development and Brand Services.
What will you do?
This role resides in the Group Office and reports into the Chief Transformation Officer.
The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that appropriate Transformation governance structures and process are developed and applied across the Sanlam group. The role will also oversee the transformation legislative compliance requirements is applied and reported on. What will make you successful in this role?
**Transformation governance**:
- Transformation reporting is aligned across the group
- Transformation systems are embedded and utilised across the group
- Ensure that auditing of transformation governance is applied throughout the group.
- Ensure Transformation reporting is integrated into annual integrated reporting process, including sustainability report.
**SA BEE compliance**:
- Set Transformation targets with the business as well as monitor progression against these targets annually across group.
- Managing the BEE reporting process for the Sanlam Group as agreed with all business clusters and group support functions, Quarterly and annually
- Responsible for the BEE data collection system, process and integrity of data collected
- Managing the full BEE audit process through engagement with BEE auditors, consultants and verification agencies
- Responsible for reporting to the BEE Commissioner and FSTC, PA annually
- Responsible for all ad hoc queries related to BEE
- Provides support to business for tenders and major BEE transactions
- Ensure that legislative changes with regards to BEE elements is implemented within the group businesses.
- Educate the business on BEE requirements and changes where necessary.
**Stakeholder relations**:
- Represent Sanlam on relevant Industry Body Association Transformation forums
- Represent Transformation office on internal Sanlam cluster and support office business forums
- Participate on behalf of the group on government BEE legislation forums
Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant Business Degree
**Knowledge**:
- BEE legislation
- African socio-economic regulatory requirements
- Corporate governance
**Experience**:
- +/- 5 years in Transformation legislative management and compliance experience
- Stakeholder relations capability in cross functional areas
