**JOB OVERVIEW**

**The Head of Project Delivery** is responsible for overseeing the successful execution and timely completion of projects within Santam. This role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The goal is to drive efficiency, quality, and collaboration across project teams to achieve optimal project outcomes and contribute to overall business success.- The role requires strong leadership & management skills, coupled with strong strategy and business planning skills. The role will also provide strategic challenge, overview, and scrutiny of the portfolio and current delivery practices.- This role may be based in **Cape Town (Bellville) or Johannesburg (Sandton).**

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE**:

- Challenge the existing Strategic Initiative Portfolio supporting Santam’s strategy
- Ensure the Project delivery activities contribute to Santam’s bottom-line value, and that all programme and projects deliver benefits.
- Provide ongoing health checks of the Portfolio by reassessing whether the Programmes and Projects continue to meet overall strategic objectives
- Model and analyse potential impacts of internal and external events on portfolio, develop alternative portfolio scenarios and make recommendations for portfolio actions
- Ensure the Projects Delivery Centre processes support decision making at SIIC & PIC
- Provide strategic oversight support for SIIC & PIC
- Responsible for the oversight, analysis, quantification and publication of information detailing the overall performance of the Santam change portfolio and initiatives within the portfolio - makes recommendation for decision-making to SIIC & PIC
- Provides for appropriate prioritisation frameworks in respect of demand management
- Accountable for QA of the PMC methodology and processes (including Lifecycle, Benefits Management, Financial processes, Resource management, portfolio management and prioritisation, management information and reporting, risk & issue management, knowledge management)
- Accountable for the integrity and risk appetite of the Portfolio
- Assure the overall integrity and coherence of the Portfolio
- Provide a focus and facilitation for investment vs. return reviews and develop recommendations for executive decision-making (on project/ programme and portfolio level)
- Act as the owner of the Portfolio, Programme & Project Frameworks, templates and processes, be responsible for ensuring they are fit for purpose and continue to be best practice.
- Recruit, develop and retain Project Delivery Centre staff members
- Work with Santam’s Exco, Senior Management and Programme and Project Managers to define and implement the PMC’s governance framework.
- Maintain close relationships with all Business Change initiatives (internal / external) to ensure that there are no overlaps in responsibilities - accountable to develop a process for identification and management of interdependencies
- When strategic initiatives are not successful, assist with the analysis / differentiation between poor strategic ideas and or a poor implementation of a good strategic idea.

**QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Postgraduate degree, preferably business or finance related
- Experience in financial service industry (preferably general insurance)
- At least 10 years experience in Projects/Portfolio Management and/or Strategy & Planning and/or Project Investment Governance
