Pepkor Speciality has an exciting, challenging and new opportunity for a Payroll Manager who will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay and relevant third parties are processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. This is a great opportunity to take full accountability of the end to end payroll function and experience in a wide range of Payroll and remuneration practices with a large retail organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Implements maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with legislative, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:

- 5 years of related experience required integrated payroll systems experience (payroll size larger than 3000)
- Minimum of 3 years SAGE People 300 experience
- Good understanding of employee tax
- Employee Benefit Fund administration
- Knowledge of BCEA and other employment legislation
- Payroll experience across other African countries will be beneficial
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or GSuite related software: Proficient with payroll software.
