**Operations Manager**

**Purpose of the role**:
The key responsibilities for this role, are to manage the various operations teams in Johannesburg as well as play a leadership role for the national business operations. The responsibilities also include the National Health and

Safety Manager portfolio as the 16.2 Management Representative as well as Inventory management.

**1. Health and Safety (National)**
- Setting and driving Annual Plans to achieve compliance with legislation
- Managing HSE Consultant
- Chairing all national health and safety meetings
- Driving Corrective action plans at all branches
- Co-ordinating Dept Labor Audits
- Ensure compliance with Waste Management and Hazardous Chemical

**2. Supply Chain Management (National)**
- Implement shipping / inventory business strategy plan and achieve objectives to support company's business plan
- Develop, manage and update policies and procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency in inventory.
- Sharing information regards changes in procedures or processes
- Handling interbranch queries / problems with regards stock
- Co-ordinating stock take
- Build a close liaison with Divisional Heads to ensure timely deliveries to avoid stock outs
- Implement and maintain efficient and best practice administration systems for audit purposes.
- Lead initiatives to drive improvements in the Inventory planning system, data and processes
- Analysis of sales and inventory reports and advise Divisional Heads and Finance Manager
- Drive root cause analyses to investigate under performance and develop actions plans to address and lead implementation of solutions
- Create and manage a process to enforce data integrity, including inventory postings and pricing
- Manages budgets and projections for inventory and recommends to senior management how to optimize inventory
- Provides innovative recommendations and influences knowledge base within area of expertise
- Provides strong leadership, develops and monitors individual and team performance

**3. Shipping**
- Implement shipping business strategy plan and achieve objectives to support company's business plan
- Develop, manage and update policies and procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency in shipping.
- Act as a knowledge source and advisor for customs / state bank regulations governing imports
- Build a close liaison with Division Heads to ensure timely deliveries to avoid stock outs
- Monitor performance of clearing agents and shipping lines to ensure timely deliveries
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all prevailing rules and regulations regarding imports and exports
- Implement and maintain efficient and best practice administration systems for audit purposes.
- Create and manage a process to enforce data integrity, including inventory postings and pricing (landed costs)
- Provides strong leadership, develops and monitors individual and team performance

**4. Warehouse and Logistics Management in Gauteng**
- Experience and knowledge of logistics processes
- Management of outsourced logistics company (Knowledge of 3PL experience).
- Provide leadership to warehouse management team.
- Manage the stock take process
- Strong with systems and processes
- Help promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.
- Ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.

**5. Branch Management**
- Manage of branch manager in Cape Town and branch administrators in Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and Durban
- Provides strong leadership, develop and monitors individual and team performance

**6. Security**
- Management of security at the Johannesburg branch as well as outsourced security service providers.

**7. Building and Facility Management in Gauteng**
- Management of facility in Johannesburg.
- overseeing and agreeing contracts and providers for services including security, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Ensuring that basic facilities are well-maintained.
- Ensure that the generator is regularly serviced and is always ready in the event of power disruptions.
- Arrange maintenance and projects where required for the smooth operation of the business.
- Have experience in moving offices and warehouse to a new location

**8. Oversight of the Manufacturing Plant**
- Provide oversight of the ribbon facility in Johannesburg.
- Develop and assist with implementation of best manufacturing practice strategies, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve output performance
- Manage the raw material procurement, negotiate pricing and stock levels to ensure company can compete effectively in the market
- Optimize operating working capital and resources usage to minimize waste through the development of a continuous improvement lean principle system
- Develop and manage master production scheduling and operations budgets to ensure that the product is delivered at agreed cost, quality and timelines.
