Main Purpose:

- As the Retail Manager in South Africa, you are responsible for leading the country Retail sales agenda, delivering business targets and driving performance.
- Work closely with the regional teams to implement the Convenience Store value proposition, store layouts incorporating range assortments, supply chain, pricing strategies, promotions and policies and procedures, including the Non-Fuel Income stream and alignment to the Strategy of the market.
- Ensure that the customer is at the heart of everything the Retail teams, Convenience Retail, Retail Teams and dealers do across the country, whilst operating safely, legally and sustainably.
- Implement and monitor the Regional / Global Convenience Retail standards, processes, procedures and working practices across the region to ensure that Puma Energy is operating stores in an optimal and compliant manner.
- Work closely with the Retail Teams, Engineering, Finance, Logistics, Human Resources, and internal teams to grow the business and increase brand value.
- Furthermore, you are responsible for significantly improving the customer value proposition execution at all sites, working very closely with all internal stakeholders and actively supporting the preparation, roll out and implementation of key projects e.g. CRM, Cash systems with improving efficiencies to the Business.

- Deliver South Africa Retail Strategy, including volume targets, profitability targets and operational cost targets, including Fuel and Non-Fuel income business streams.
- Lead, develop, manage, and motivate staff within Retail Sales to ensure that the required competencies are in place to meet current and future business needs.
- Significantly improve operational excellence and general standards at all Retail sites.
- Develop strong relationships with Retailers and other key stakeholders.
- Implement local and global customer value propositions in alignment with the Country strategy, including Non-Fuel Income for Community Villages including Convenience Retail, Quick Service Restaurants, Lube Bays, Car Wash, Financial Services etc. including managing the profitability, relationships and regulatory compliance with all Service Providers in Country.
- Convenience Retailing alignment with strategy including accountable for the good execution of layout, design, trade dress and visual identity principles in stores.
- Supporting Dealers with new store openings; execute planograms and merchandising principles. Provide Dealers and regional staff with operational manuals and easy reference guides to operate effectively and profitably.
- Establish a national supply chain to ensure product delivery to all Puma Convenience Stores. Sign contracts with Suppliers to guarantee supply of goods to all Puma. Accountable for the profitability of Supplier rebates and compliance to all Supplier contracts.
- Maintain and update cost and recommended Retail Selling prices on Puma's point of sale system for all Puma Convenience Stores.
- Develop a Promotional Strategy in line with Regional guidelines. Liaise with agencies, develop local promotional concepts, print and distribute promotional material.
- Ensure that all investment CAPEX business cases are economically viable and all the correct Franchise maintaining a legal register.
- Monitor and anticipate competitor activity and develop appropriate response strategies.
- Ensure country regulatory compliance, health, safety and environmental policy to the country requirements.
- Permanently represent the Retail business in all internal and external meetings.
- Strengthen Retailer Council and improve Retailer relationships.

Skills/Competencies:
Mandatory Education:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management of equivalent.
- Proven track record of leadership skills in driving a team of managers to deliver business targets and ability to forge positive working relationships with internal, external, and global stakeholders.
- Notable experience in Convenience Retailing essential including Category Management, Space Planning an advantage and managing any Non-Fuel Income partnership will be an advantage.

**Experience**:

- At least 5 years working experience within the fuel, food or non-fuel retailing business with strong financial business acumen and demonstrated success.

**Skills**:

- English Language;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;

- Contract Negotiation and Rebate management.
