**Overview**
- Liaising directly with the senior team in order to maintain and enhance appropriate and effective Health & Safety systems and programs.
- Implement and maintain an environmental program for the company's aviation stations nationally within South Africa.
- Conduct ongoing Health & Safety risk assessments and ensure that all safe operating procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure all companies business units remain fully compliant with internal Health & Safety standards and all relevant industry, regulatory and state legislated requirements.
- Maintain liaisons with all relevant government bodies, agencies, and worker representatives with regards to Health & Safety matters.
- The Monthly preparation of KPI reports.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety committee meetings are held in line with statutory and company's policy requirements.
- Review all Health & Safety training ensuring that all employees and management are aware of changes in regulations or operating procedures.
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents including Dangerous Goods occurrences that occur at any of the airports where the company's aviation is based are reported to the appropriate authorities and are fully investigated and appropriate corrective processes put in place.
- Participating in Health & Safety and accident investigation board reviews.
- Promoting and driving the MORSE 'safety first' culture through all levels of the organisation.
- Delivering a process of continuous improvement to achieve a positive reduction in personal injury, aircraft damage and GSE accident rates.
- Proactively maintaining and enhancing open lines of communication with airline customers at station level.
- Implement, maintain, and complete daily administration of the SMS at all stations.
- Ensure identified hazards and issues/inspections/audits are being managed.
- Must implement the SMS within their area of control and encourage the engagement of their staff in the safety management processes.
- Supervise staff ensuring they work in a safe manner.
- Managing day-to-day QA/QC functions, preparation of quality plans to meet IATA & airline requirements.
- Corrective / preventive actions will be monitored for implementation and effectiveness by the Regional Quality Manager.
- Track the progress of all corrective/ preventive actions and ensure that at an appropriate future time a formal verification of the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and/or preventive actions will be undertaken either by the Quality Manager directly, or as part of an audit process using company audit/inspection staff.
- Determine root cause analysis of defects and providing diagnosis & systematic solutions.
- Developing and implementing a far-reaching corporate quality strategy.
- Guide senior management in the assessment of business health from a quality and business optimization and risk management point of view.
- Ensuring compliance to all IATA, ISAGO, 8 Pillar and regulatory authorities' processes and procedures.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring of quality initiatives in line with company and customer expectations.
- Ensuring that all company standards are adhered to.
- Implementation and maintenance of the localized station emergency response plans.
- Preparation and maintenance of the localized emergency contingency plans.
- Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy.
- Leading the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
- Auditing, analyzing and reporting environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Carrying out impact assessments to identify, assess and reduce an organisation's environmental risk and financial costs.
- Promoting and raising awareness, at all levels of an organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility.
- Managing the development and implementation of an environmental management system.
- Participating in environmental education and research.
- Writing environmental reports, assuming the lead responsibility with the company.
- A relevant qualification in occupational Health & Safety.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures related to ground handling operations is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety management position.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities.
- Environmental Certificate from an accredited institution.
- A relevant qualification in occupational quality.
- Knowledge of Quality procedures related to ground handling operations.
- Previous experience in a management position.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities.
- Ability to communicate successfully with employees, management, and outside institutions.
- Prepared to work abnormal and extended hours which could include weekends.
- A valid driver's license would
