Sustainability Specialist

Develop and drive sustainability roadmap in line with Saint-Gobain CSR roadmap and long term ambition

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant B- Degree or equivalent in EHS Management.
- Relevant accreditation preferred (E.G South African Environment association etc.)
- Min of 3 yrs management exp with Health, Safety and Environment
- Min 5 yrs exp within SHEAR field
- Must have sound knowledge of National EHS Legislation
- Good report writing skills
- Must have extensive experience of EHS programs( E.G ISO Standards)
- Provide advice on general EHS matters and legal provisions
- Extensive EHS auditing experience (both legal and ISO requirements)
- Investigate serious incidents on national basis
- Must be able to evaluate business contracts in terms of SHEAR provision

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ensure compliance to environmental legal and other requirements.
- Drive initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality objectives by reducing direct and indirect CO2 emissions (scope 1, 2 and 3) in line with group’s roadmap.
- Reduce water withdrawal in order to reduce industrial water discharge to the environment in line with group’s roadmap objectives.
- Drive initiatives to reduce non-recovered waste in line with group’s roadmap objectives.
- Drive initiatives to limit the use of virgin non-renewable resources and reduce the impacts of resource use over the whole life cycle of our products and services in line with group’s roadmap objectives.
- Ensure implementation, monitoring and maintenance of ISO 14001 certification at applicable sites.
- Ensure, through monitoring and tracking that all business units strive towards the implementation and maintenance of best practice whilst working toward achieving group’s CRS objectives.
- Interface with Gyproc, Isover, Weber and Delegation to ensure alignment with regard to group’s environment roadmap.
- Identify, plan and organise training to ensure awareness and compliance to environmental requirements and where necessary, provide training of employees and contractors.
- Conduct environmental audits to ensure compliance to environmental standards, legal and other requirements.
- Represent the Company at external events in a professional manner befitting the role.
- Research and provide recommendations in terms of industry best practices and provide support to sites on projects execution.
