Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Oxyon People Solutions is seeking an Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team in South Africa or Cape Town.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled professional with extensive experience in environmental sustainability and climate change. The ideal candidate will have participated in project executions and possess knowledge of Climate Change Policies, reporting standards, GHG Protocol, UNFCCC guidance, and IPCC Guidelines.
The Environmental Sustainability Specialist will report to the Climate Change Business Head and work globally with cross-functional teams. This role is focused on South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa and requires conducting virtual and on-site verification audits, carbon accounting, emissions reduction strategy development, setting and achieving net-zero targets, and providing GHG training.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to liaison and coordinate with government, private, and investment clients. A qualified auditor with any accreditation/certification scheme like GHG, ISO 14065, ISO 14067, CDM, etc., is preferred.
Responsibilities and Authorities- Review documentation and provide necessary feedback to Validation & Verification Bodies (VVB) to establish an accurate audit plan and report timelines.
- Perform greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions verifications for clients by conducting on-site and off-site audits of their operations, processes, and documentation, working individually or leading a team of auditors.
- Respond to VVB and Project Developers' queries about V&V reviews in a timely manner.
- Draft relevant documentation outlining the outcomes of V&V projects.
- Maintain records and documentation of audits for continuation of ISO 14065 accreditation or other certifications.
- Assist in delivering public and private greenhouse gas (GHG) trainings for clients.
- Support the sales team in preparing project proposals.
- Execute projects with expected results, prepare final reports, and represent the team.
- Communicate with various stakeholders internally and externally, including project developers, team members, technical experts, etc.
- Support the Business Head in preparing relevant reports, such as pipeline updates, as required.
- Participate in key client meetings as a technical expert.
- A minimum of a University degree or equivalent in engineering, natural science, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of professional work experience.
- Priority will be given to candidates with professional qualifications or experience in GHG audit work.
Estimated Salary: R750,000 - R1,200,000 per annum (depending on experience).
