**Job Description**:
Position Purpose
Champions and owns the regional Plant of the Future program and the automation roadmap development and implementation, including the roadmap for Touchless repair and Touchless plant implementation across all service centres in Europe, covering both third-party service providers that operate facilities on CHEP’s behalf, as well as CHEP Owned facilities. Ensures successful technology transfer and training (TT&T) of new plant automation technologies to plant operations personnel.
Leads and initiates the development and execution of capital engineering projects and continuous technical improvement programs to drive productivity & efficiencies improvement in support of the region. Provides leadership on Non-Hire Stock (NHS) Capex projects and equipment installations & upgrades across IMETA network. Manages adherence to CHEP’s engineering standards and supports revision of standards.
Leads the region technical systems program development and implementation, including a preventive maintenance strategy, plant technical teams’ capability upskilling and standard process metrics to deliver overall automation equipment performance improvement.
As leader of IMETA Process Engineering team, ensures that team members are properly coached and provided with the resources and training to be effective in their roles while maintaining close control of the departmental overhead budget.
Champions the continuous improvement of the Mean time between failures roadmap according to the glide path as well as the implementation of the roadmap for machine guarding and pedestrian segregation.
Key Accountabilities
Technical System - Equipment reliability /Process Reliability- Lead & Develop strategies of the IMETA Engineering team to improve Process Reliability (PPH, MTBF and MTTR) on equipment across the network.- Support Process Engineering Excellence to implement, track and measure standard process metrics to improve overall equipment performance for all Operations processes including, but not limited to, sort and repair to be used to create ongoing improvement strategies.
Equipment /Process Safety- Collaborate with regional quality and Health & Safety leadership to identify and drive projects that improve product quality and or worker safety.
Project Management- Lead the engineering team to implement Project management processes- Lead the Q & V stage of the CQV phase of new line installations.- Act as interface or representative of the plant in all design, concept, planning and design reviews of new line projects.- Ensure engineering standards, equipment safety procedures and project tracking procedures in support of all equipment and design changes is implemented.- Driving the team to ensure continuous stakeholder communication.
Capital and Fixed Asset Management- Manages the development of NHS capex project plans and ensures assigned project engineers successfully develop the business case, gets management approval, and execute up to successful start-up according to established schedule, cost and performance standards.- Oversee the delivery of maintenance strategies for CHEP IMETA Operations maintenance teams to deliver YOY equipment effectiveness improvement as well as Standards & Compliance, and Cost Optimization initiatives.- Lead the creation and execution of CHEP IMETA capital equipment projects from inception to completion, including project justification, equipment specifications and statements of work, installation, start-up and transition to production with an annual budget.- Collaborate with the Regional Supply Chain and finance leadership to identify and drive operating cost reductions through productivity projects. Share direct accountability for Initiatives and total cost out with the other Supply Chain leaders.- Lead the engineering team to administrate the tracking and forecasting of the NHS budget.
