SA Metal Group is South Africa’s oldest and largest metal recycling company. The Group purchases and processes all forms of ferrous metals (steels and others) and non-ferrous metals (aluminium, copper and others) from industrial enterprises, scrap metal dealers and private individuals. Our processing facilities are located in and around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. The Cape Town facility (Epping) requires committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their Production team as a Senior Operations Manager.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Senior Operations Manager’s primary function is to manage employees and various operations within the Production Division. The duties will include but not be limited to:
**Responsibilities (NOT limited to the below)**
- Plan, prepare and facilitate the dispatch of material.
- Ensure departmental targets are met.
- Liaise with departments regarding metal processing for despatch.
- Liaise with departments regarding container movement and despatches.
- Perform site inspections as and when needed.
- Ensures resources are used effectively so that maximum productivity is achieved.
- Ensure that correct standard operating procedures are adhered to.
- Manage all administrative processes as required.
- Attends meetings (Safety & Production).
- Manage timesheet and attendance records.
- Motivates team.
- Ensures that all Employees’ Written Task Procedures are up to date and that they have been explained by the Manager and that Employee understands the contents thereof.
- Ensure that all machinery and equipment are checked to be safe and in good working order.
- Report all faults to the necessary departments.
- Identifying the need for preventative maintenance of the machines within the department.
- Ensure staff adhere to Health and Safety regulations.
- Facilitates Health & Safety Toolbox Talks.
- PPE - Ensure that all PPE regulations are adhered to before work begins.
- Adheres to Health & Safety Regulations in terms of the Safety file for the department.

**QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
- 5-8 years supervisory experience
- 3-5 Project Management experience
- Have an advanced ability with Microsoft office programs
- Knowledge of maintenance planning
- Knowledge of production and Dispatch planning
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as and when required
- Previous experience in a physically demanding working environment would be advantageous
