Hosted Services - Infrastructure Technician: OPERA DIVISION

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This role is within the MyMicros Hosted Services department of Micros South Africa, providing maintenance
and support on all Hosted products and infrastructure.
Ensuring that the company’s process and control measures are always adhered to.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE
- Ensure technology is accessible and equipped with current hardware and software.
- Ensure industry best practices is applied with regard to (Operating Systems, Security, Database
recovery, etc).
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
- Provide orientation to new users of existing technology
- Train staff about potential uses of existing technology
- Travel to Data Centre collect and drop off equipment for repairs
- Provide individual training and support on request
- Provide recommendations about accessing information and support
- Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
- Monitor and maintain technology to ensure maximum access
- Troubleshoot all technology issues
- Maintain log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
- Make recommendations about purchase of technology resources
- Research current and potential resources and services
- Advise staff of security breach and/or change in password or security status
- To ensure Backup strategy is adhered too.
- To ensure Security strategy is adhered too.
- Maintain and configure VMware + Hyper-V cluster.
- Maintain and configure SAN equipment.

- To ensure all clients are updating correctly to the MyMicros environment.
- Assist and mentor the implementation team regarding the technologies used in the Data Centre.
- To ensure accurate and timely updates of logged support issues one the in-house call logging
system.
- To be aware of escalation procedures as communicated from time to time.
- Research and test problems to confirm, isolate and identify what caused the problem and
solutions. When unable to resolve problems, escalate to the correct channels.
- Maintain all documentation required by Micros.
- Assist with the occasional implementing, testing and writing of any documentation that may be
required.
- To carry out other appropriate scheduled, work, tasks and duties in any of the company premises
as and when required.
- Test and troubleshoot new versions prior to release.
- To employ sound decision making when dealing with issues, to resolve issues in the most efficient
manner, in the shortest possible time.
- To maintain effective communication with all customers, management, team members and 3rd
party suppliers.
- Inform the relevant account managers of support/maintenance issues regarding their clients.
- Attend any relevant training course which is set to improve knowledge on the company’s or
- Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity & service levels and dealing with them
accordingly.
- Collaborating extensively with peers and other teams to drive problem resolution and contribute
in growing the knowledge
- Forward relevant product information, fixes, workarounds, known issues, etcto relevant
personnel within the company.
- Keep updated on new technologies available.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- A thorough understanding of Micros products.
- An excellent communicator and self-starter.
- Pragmatic, hands on individual.
- Excellent troubleshooting/diagnostic skills
- Flexible / adaptable approach to customer needs
- The ability to embrace issues / problems encountered, and communicates to the relevant internal
teams / customer, working towards a satisfactory resolution.
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task, the ability to prioritise ensuring that all tasks are
completed to the relevant business processes.
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES
Personal Attributes and Qualities
- Matric / Grade 12 / Equivalent
- National Diploma in Information Technology.
- Networking certification (N+, MCSE)
- IT related knowledge (A+, ITIL)
- Knowledge of DNS, WSUS, AD and GPO’s
- Knowledge of VMware + Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of MS SQL.
- Knowledge of Oracle.
- Minimum 5 years in IT.
- Good understanding of Microsoft products (Windows, Office, Windows Server)
- Driver’s license
- Own vehicle
