**_ Position Purpose:_**
Located in Transnet Pipelines Project environment
Reporting to the Head: Risk & SHEQ, the Manager; SHEQ Projects shall provide advice, guidance and technical support to
TPL departments to ensure compliance with applicable standards (health, safety, and quality), TIMS, policies and
procedures, legislative and regulatory requirements.
To provide an effective SHEQ leadership and technical support to the organisation to ensure the development and
implementation of the SHEQ programs, strategies, policies, procedures and standards required for pro-actively managing
project development and execution, risks & liabilities in Transnet infrastructure projects and programmes.
To lead the implementation and maintenance of SHEQ programmes, processes, and systems in order to manage SHEQ
hazards and risks that may impact the projects.
**_ Position outputs:_**
Facilitate and provide SHEQ services and support throughout the project set up and project life cycle (PLP) process on all
phases of the project
Facilitate and manage the provision of SHEQ budgets for project services as well as contractors.
Monitor and provide advise on the latest developments of the legislation and applicable standards o keep TPL on compliance
radar including managing service providers appointed to compliment the project.
Establish training programs for managers supervisors and employees describing their role in the safety culture for the project.
Liaising with local authorities, industries and provincial government to ensure that TPL complies with existing SHEQ
applicable legislation and other requirements for the project.
To ensure that TPL projects are compliant to construction work permits and requirements to OHS Act and its regulations.
Ensure effective identification and management of all SHEQ hazards and risks as part of the normal project management
process.
Manage and facilitate compliance to all health and safety requirements in projects including contractors health and safety
(safety files and induction)
Facilitate the implementation of SHEQ interventions in projects
Conduct annual reviews and audits of the SHEQ performance in the projects
Identify and draft SHEQ initiatives with the focus on project execution and KPI’s
Facilitate incident management in projects including reporting, investigation, report writing, and close out lessons learnt.
Lead on implementation of SHEQ controls within projects through the available structures.
Develop and manage the implementation and effectiveness of the projects safety improvement initiatives and strategies.
Promote SHEQ awareness and responsibility by establishing relevant governance structures at the level namely SHEQ
meetings, communications, onsite visits, and training programmes. Encouraging active participation of SHEQ by all
employees.
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- A relevant B degree: Health and Safety, Quality or equivalent.
- Professional registration with SACPCMP as health & safety agent.
- 8 years’ experience managing an Occupational Health, Safety and HSE Risk or Quality Systems.
- 3 years’ experience at the management level.
- Driver’s license
- Desirable:
- Experience in working with large / mega projects in the hydrocarbon industry
- M+4 Health and Safety or Quality qualification.
- Certificates: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 SAMTRAC, ISO 17025 implementation & Auditing.
- 8 - 10 years’ experience managing an Occupational Health, Safety and HSE Risk or Quality Systems.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience at the management level.
