**What will you do as a SHEQ Specialist (Process Safety, Fire Protection & Emergency Response)?**

The SHEQ Specialist (Process Safety, Fire Protection & Emergency Response) will be required to ensure the management of Process Safety (PSM) and Fire Protection (FP) systems and processes by support the organization in ensuring that the relevant PS activities/actions are conducted sufficiently to prevent Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC), satisfy compliance with the requirements of the local, legislative and group SHEQ requirements and in the event of a loss of containment we have sufficient FP and Emergency Response (ERP) capability to mitigate such.

Key resource support to the Manager: SHEQ & Sustainability in the development and maintenance of an effective PSM, FP and ER Program which forms part of the National Occupational Health, Safety & Security Program, developing related targets and maintaining a positive safety performance in line with legal and Vopak standards.

**What do we expect from you as a SHEQ Specialist (Process Safety, Fire Protection & Emergency Response)?**
- 3 year Degree in Engineering or Occupational Safety Management or equivalent
- Proof of Facilitation Training (certificate or other)
- Must be a seasoned Professional with well-grounded industry exposure with 5 - 7 years proven specialized experience in Fire & Emergency Response and/or Process Safety Management with demonstrable hands-on knowledge.
- Active exposure to emergency response e.g. Fire and Rescue, First Aid/BAA/BLS response, high angle rope access rescuer, hazmat and pollution response would be advantageous with supporting qualifications/certificates.
- Strong exposures and experience in Emergency Response/Mechanical/Engineering/ Operations would be advantageous

**What does your day look like?**

The position of SHEQ Specialist - PSM and FP reports directly to the Manager: SHEQ & Sustainability supporting the governance of the PSM, Fire and ERP policy and systems, by:

- Being the recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Authorizer for any Fire Safety & Emergency Response activities, policies and procedures as well as Process Safety Management processes and activities.
- Participate in the evaluation of Critical and/or High risk tasks, ensuring they take place safely through approved procedures/processes and compliance activities e.g. Trust and Verify.
- Ensuring that Process Safety Barriers are kept intact, with focus on implementation and assurance processes for the various Departments. Drive Teams to close out actions related to the PSM and FP
- Inputs to CAPEX development for Fire/Safety Project related design and construction supporting SHEQ assurance and governance systems.
