**_ Position Purpose:_**

1. To achieve a sound internal control environment across TPT and implement and manage monitoring mechanisms to

ensure the sustainable

functioning of the control environment across TPT by:
a. Implementation and monitoring of internal control frameworks, processes and practices to ensure that Transnet Port

Terminals (TPT) support

functions and business operations have coherent and integrated internal financial controls embedded in product and

service delivery value

chains, in support of a risk-based regulatory and operating environment

b. Assist the Senior Specialist: Internal Control, Assurance and reporting to provide second line of assurance activities in

respect of internal

financial controls, and ensure establishment and maintenance of effective and appropriate internal controls to ensure

unqualified audits.

2. Provision of necessary internal control best practices and benchmarking to drive and enhance the control culture across

TPT as well as

enhance the control environment to take into account changes within the business.

**_ Position outputs:_**

1. Proactively ensure closure of gaps and findings detected by External Audit during annual financial audit process with

management:

- Tracking and monitoring and tracking of solutions to audit findings emanating from annual audit process with management

within in agreed
- upon due date.
- Ensure the corrective action is practical and sustainable, and implemented in a timely manner.
- Ensure lessons learnt and corrective actions are taken to eliminate repeat findings.

2. Ensure Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) Compliance to Internal Controls
- Review current minimum control frameworks across TPT to ensure the implementation of practical, simple, business

orientated and
- sustainable control solutions that mitigate current risks and exposure without compromising business agility.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, management of identified risks and ensure that controls such as Business Critical

Controls (BCCs)
- and Internal Financial Controls (IFC’s) operate effectively throughout TPT.- Ensure efficient management of business-critical controls by reviewing risks and ensuring mitigation by process owners.

3. Drive the implementation and maintenance of effective Internal Controls across TPT
- Proactively develop and continuously review internal controls to support compliance to business processes.
- Oversee and ensure the implementation of actions contained/recommended within external and internal audit reports in a

holistic and
- sustainable manner.
- Compile inputs and reports for and participate in the Internal Control Steering Committees and Group Governance

Committee meetings and

other key TPT governance forums;
- Ensure sustainable and efficient compliance by developing and implementing significant control enhancements through 6

sigma initiatives and
- systems automation.
- Evaluating the results from the various internal control monitoring systems (example SAP GRC, CSA, CCM Power BI) to

ensure that the
- Internal Control systems are up to date and accurately completed by the process owner. Engage with the process owner,

project sponsor and

control owner to understand the breakdowns in the control environment and suggest and approve mitigating controls to

address the risk of the

control breakdown.
- Proactively maintain an accurate database for the internal control monitoring systems to ensure data is up to date and

accurate and ensure
- users are adequately trained on the system. Drive training across TPT to all project sponsors, process owners and control

owners to ensure

that all internal control Monitoring mechanisms are fully utilized.
- Drive and monitor the control self-assessment (CSA) process across TPT to ensure controls are assessed for compliance

by management.
- Monitor and evolve the Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM) analytical dashboards that drive auditing via the use of data

and data analytics.
