Position Purpose:_**

The TPT Senior Specialist Loss Control (SSLC) will be responsible for all internal audit, internal control, combined assurance

and Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) related matters. The SSLC’s responsibilities include acting as a strategic
change agent in identifying areas within TPT that require financial and operational improvements in the internal control

processes and driving the development of appropriate models / solutions / control enhancements to address the

shortcomings and overseeing the implementation thereof. This must be approached from a strategic holistic perspective,

looking at best practice locally and abroad and then adapting as necessary to suit Transnet Port Terminals business realities,

to drive control compliance to maintain a satisfactory control environment and providing stakeholder assurance thereby

assisting in the achievement of its strategies.

Position outputs:_**

Internal Control Assurance:
1.Develop an annual and 3 year Internal Control Assurance plan that covers 2nd line reviews and audits that will assist TPT

achieve strategic objectives, mitigate risks and provide assurance on control compliance to stakeholders.

2.Oversea the reporting of audit findings as per TIA audit reports and Internal Control Assurance reports to process owners,

control owners, senior and executive management to ensure agreed action plans and recommendations are implemented by

the due date.

3.Review and monitor status of audit findings across TPT to ensure actions plans are completed by process owners within

the due date.

4.Drive and monitor processes to ensure accuracy of the control frameworks across TPT.

5.Drive and monitor the control self-assessment (CSA) process across TPT to ensure controls are assessed for compliance

by management.

6.Monitor and evolve the Continuous Control Monitoring (CCM) analytical dashboards that drive auditing via the use of data

and data analytics.

7.Develop adhoc Internal Control Assurance reviews at the request of management to provide relevant assurance on control

compliance. Reviews to be conducted in terms of International Internal Auditing standards and methodology.

8.Proactively engage with control owners, process owners, Senior and Executive Management to identify red flag areas,

drive implementation of controls to maintain satisfactory control environment within the relevant functional area and or

Terminal.

9.Research and develop best practice controls and control reviews across TPT from local and global benchmarking to ensure

evolution of the Internal Control Assurance function.

10.Prepare monthly reports to Senior and Executive Management on Internal Control reporting dashboard and KPI’s
11. Report monthly at TPT EXCO, TPT FINCO, TPT Internal Control Steering Committee, Regional RISKCO and TPT

Assurance Committee status of Internal Control indicators and KPI’s (i.e status of audit findings, control self-assessment
results, continuous control monitoring dashboards, adhoc Internal Control Assurance reviews).

12. Assess and co-ordinate teams daily activities to ensure the Internal Control strategic objectives are met.

13. Plan and co-ordinate resource requirements to successfully deliver on the Internal Control Assurance activities.

Internal Audit:
1. Assist in ensuring the provision of an efficient and effective internal audit function in collaboration with Transnet Internal

Audit (TIA) to ensure that internal audit activities and reviews fulfils the purpose and responsibilities established by TPT and

Transnet management and the Transnet Board Audit Committee.

2. Monitor the performance of TIA in delivery and execution of the Board approved Internal Audit Plan to ensure assurances

are provided to stakeholders on the auditable areas within TPT.

3. Assist TIA facilitate the audit process and reviews at TPT i.e scoping of reviews, kick off meetings and close out with

Senior and Executive Management.
