- Join us as a Senior SHE Manager who will be a custodian of SHE activities in our operation, you will be responsible for the overall management of Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environment including SHE risk by managing, integrating, and supporting the implementation of SHE policies, management plans and standards at operational level.

**Job Description**:
- The role is responsible for integrating, supporting implementation of SHE policies, management plans and standards at operational level.
**Your responsibilities will include**:

**Performance and Delivery**:
- Managing the Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environment teams at Site(s) that delivers on the SHE strategies.
- Promoting continuous improvement through effective communication, coaching, mentoring and forming collaborative relationships with team members.
- Facilitating and manage the implementation and/or improvement of SHE systems ensuring that they are adapted to the business environment.
- Responsible for the general management of the Site SHE function including budget preparation, cost control, staff capability and performance assessments etc.
- Providing guidance on SHE related matters, including hazard/aspect identification, risk assessment/management and risk/impact control, with particular emphasis on the management of long-term risk.
- Reporting to site management on SHE performance and comply with legal, corporate and functional centre reporting requirements.
- Managing SHE Risk & Assurance Theme Audits, Incident Investigations and Risk Assessments.
- Implementing and ensuring the effectiveness of the SHE management System.
- Plan, implement and assist in the execution of operational SHE Legal Compliance Assessments.
- Managing an operational audit schedule on critical areas.
- Implementing the required SHE Risk & Assurance system procedures, systems and standards.
- Review and analyse operational incident investigations, risk assessments and audit reports for quality control and to ensure the Hierarchy of Control is effectively applied.
- Provide risk based operational input to the operational SHE plan to ensure key focus areas address major risks, audit results, and Learning from Incidents.
- Input into the development and maintenance of an Annual Group process on risk control effectiveness.
- Participate as a permanent member on the operations Standard Committee.
- Develop appropriate improvement plans for the respective departments. Such improvement plans to be aligned with the strategic imperatives of AAP in each of the respective disciplines.”

- Looking after the permitting team.
**Compliance**:
- Developing required compliance governance in the context of the discipline on a Business level.
- Ensuring compliance to Anglo American internal and external compliance (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements.
This role is in the SHE Department at a Band 5 level reporting to the Senior General Manager
**Qualifications**:
- Recognised Scientific /Technical Degree plus a formal qualification in Safety, Health or Environment combined with practical experience.
- Business qualification (MBA, MBL, MDP, LDP) would be advantageous.
- Registration with a South African professional (SH or E) institution would be advantageous.
**To be successful, you will have the following experience**:
- At least 7-10 years Safety, Health or Environmental experience at a managerial level.
- Experience in mining or related environment essential.
**Technical Knowledge (experience) required for role**:
- Understand SHE resources, risks and opportunities and applies this knowledge to pre-empt and manage issues and to create solutions.
- Create and embed solutions to positively impact SHE, minimise future risk and encourage individual accountability.
