Our client is looking for a Product Development Assistant to join their dynamic team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Create an NPD & Innovation strategy aligned to deliver against the business strategy objectives
- Development and implementation of a 3-year innovation pipeline.
- Ensure NPD is aligned to category volume and margin objectives.
- Development and management of Category, Channel Plans and Brand strategies pertaining to NPD.
- Sourcing and development of commercially viable new product ranges.
- Executing range reviews and gap analysis.
- Successful product launches against targeted timelines.
- Understanding of global and local food trends and consumer behaviour
- Assessing feasibility and potential size of opportunity for new and redesigned products
- Product re-engineering where opportunities exist to ensure product and cost optimization
- Ensuring customer satisfaction in innovation and product quality.
- To have a clear understanding of the wider trends in food, lifestyle, technology, packaging design and technical developments in the food industry through research, food fairs / exhibitions, eating out and comparative shopping.
- To remain up to date with local market and competitor commercial information.
- To support the commercial function through the development and implementation of category and business unit product development plans, with product development as a key driver.
- To manage new product development plans in support of business priorities.
- To identify commercially viable product opportunities.
- Managing and driving projects from concept to launch; including artwork, production timelines and ensuring that all product specifications and quality standards are adhered to.
- To ensure that product quality is clearly differentiated from the competition.
- To ensure new product launches are commercially viable and fit within overall business strategy.
- To ensure that the project management process is effectively providing deliverables within targeted timelines.
- Working closely with internal departments, team members, clients and suppliers in meeting all goals and milestones in the critical time path.
- Input in Post-Implementation Reviews.
- Responsible for all product reviews, customer product presentations and customer innovation days on new product development.
- Responsible for at least 3 internal innovation days per annum.
- Effective bench marking and competitor analysis (pricing, product & quality).
- To remain up-to-date with performance against all agreed key performance indicators.

- Customer/Channel needs and objectives
- Business objectives
- Financial management - margin ratio calculations, i.e. ROI, days cover, margin, mark up
- The ability to transfer creativity and innovation into commercially viable product ranges
- Excellent command of English, strong communication and excellent presentation skills
- Excellent planning and project management skills

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Food Preparation/Food Science
- Previous experience in a new product development and brand launches would be an advantage
- Computer literate and being proficient in MS Office - advanced skills in MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
- 5-10 years minimum experience in FMCG environment
