**Commercial Sales Manager**

The role of the Commercial Sales Manager is to achieve a consistent trajectory of growth from a database of Installers with large and/or bespoke projects for the Solar PV market within the South African and targeted Southern African markets. In addition, the Commercial Sales Manager is responsible for upskilling, supporting and managing the commercial sales team based in Johannesburg and Cape Town with financial management of projects, constructing proposals for new work and negotiating and concluding on all aspects of contracts at high value.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Commercial Sales Strategy**
- Participate in the formulation and implementation of the overall long-term Commercial Sales strategy
- Set and monitor KPA’s and KPI’s for optimal performance to achieve Commercial sales targets consistent with direction from the Chief Sales Officer

**Stakeholder Relations**
- Build and maintain trust relationships with the UK, Management Team, key Suppliers and Customers to ensure business needs are met and employees are self-motivated and driven
- Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operations, contribute to Commercial sales operational initiatives and projects, review and communicate the impact of activities
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key Stakeholders to facilitate delivery and achievement of the Commercial sales strategy
- Ensure effective relationships with Customer businesses through maintaining an appropriate interface with Commercial Account Managers and Customers
- Improve the customer service experience, create engaged Customers and facilitate organic growth
- Take ownership of customer issues and following problems through to resolution
- Facilitate and encourage effective intra
- and cross departmental interaction

**People Management**
- Lead and manage the Commercial Sales team through promoting teamwork, providing guidance and support, empowering decision making and driving a performance-based culture
- Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere, takes ownership for team cohesion and team development
- Develop an enabling workplace through the provision of required resources, infrastructure and processes to execute job functions
- Strive to maintain an ethical and engaged workforce that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating talented employees at all levels
- Develop, coach/train and mentor direct reports
- Ensure training and developmental needs of the Commercial Sales team are identified, required training schedules completed and training provided
- Identify and develop a successor
- Actively participate in developing the company’s culture that is performance driven, attracts and retains Talent and that is focused on quality customer service by setting annual KPI’s for Commercial Sales team, ensure alignment to company objectives, measure performance and provide feedback
- Communicate with Commercial Sales staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, targets and operational requirements

Commercial Sales Management Tasks
- Day to day management of the Commercial Sales team
- Drive sales according to the commercial product portfolio whilst providing feedback for improvement/change to the portfolio, marketing and key sales messages
- Develop commercial sales plans with direction from the Chief Sales Officer
- Implement team sales targets and goals consistent with direction from the Chief Sales Officer
- Closely manage the prospects list alongside the Commercial Account Managers and actively participate and assist in the negotiation and close of commercial and/or bespoke sales and contract escalations
- Develop high level relationships with key decision makers within existing and potential customers
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining effective customer relations by personally or in conjunction with the commercial sales team resolving problems or responding to enquiries
- Review and respond to tender and contract specifications

**Legal Compliance**
- Responsible for the overall legal compliance of the Commercial Sales department of relevant legislation and regulations
- Ensure Group Company policies and legal guidelines are communicated throughout the Commercial Sales team and that they are always followed
- Set policies for Commercial sales department
- Accountable for the delivery of required documentation for regulatory reporting by due date

**Finance**
- Provide input into development of budgets for the Commercial sales department
- Continuously search ways to ensure optimal cost utilisation for all Commercial sales activities
