URBAN MOBILITY Senior Professional Officer - Traffic Engineering

Event and Incident Management

**Requirements**:

- BTech or First Degree in the Transport Engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the Traffic and Transportation,

Transport Operations, Transport Incident Management or Event

Transportation fields
- Good computer literacy skills
- Staff management experience
- A valid Code B driver’s licence
- Willingness to work at any location within the City of Cape Town,

outside of normal working hours, including weekends when required
- Must be independently mobile, including all-terrain walking for

visual inspections and assessments
- Registration with ECSA would be advantageous

Key Performance Areas
- Manage staff within the Event and Incident Management section
- Communication and Liaison: Represent the Council at meetings

with event organisers, members of the public and other government

and Council departments, and regular communication with same
- Road Incident Management: development, planning,

maintenance, operations and expansion
- Freeway and Arterial Management Operations
- Event Transport Planning, Management, Facilitation and Promotion
- Lead or draft and oversee the implementation of Event Transport

Management Plans
- Events inventory management
- Financial Management
- Assist with budget planning, control and reporting
- Manage capital projects
- Management of contracts in accordance with the Contract

**Management Framework (CMF) of the City**:

- Preparation of Tender documentation
- Management, administration and review of contracts and

projects
- Contract Life Cycle Management
- Administration
