Strata Control Officer

Providing meaningful input during planning and risk assessments
- Investigating underground instability issues and rock related incidents
- Recommending on the safety and productivity of the mining environment
- Adherence to strata control practices and principles
- Adherence to standardisation requirements, policies, procedures and operating standards related to strata control services and support
- Resolving or escalating operational strata control related queries or breakdowns declared
- Reviewing and analysing effectiveness of operational strata control processes
- Reviewing strata control data and information
- Participating in the identification of defects and improvement opportunities
- Successful teamwork and collaboration with stakeholders
- Adherence to organisational and legislative safety requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate with mathematics and science
- Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate a critical requirement
- A Blasting certificate and mining experience would be beneficial
- Mining relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. B-Tech or BSc) would be an advantage
- Minimum 5 years Rock Engineering experience within a metalliferous / massive miningenvironment.
- Studies towards Certificate in Rock Mechanics will be advantageous
- Numerical Modelling proficiency
- Ability to communicate with people on different levels
- Excellent report writing ability
- Proficient in Microsoft office package
- Valid Certificate of physical fitness
- Drivers license with own transport would be a benefit
