**Job Purpose/Overview**:
The Area Security Manager reports to the Regional Security Director for the assigned region and is part of the Mars Global Security team. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Regional Security Director with integrating security into all of Mars' business operations within the designated Area. The ASM will assist in driving the corporate security strategy for designated locations in the area, to include the management of programmes and systems for the protection of associates, brands and assets.

**Context/Scope**:

- The ASM must be highly skilled in Investigation techniques.
- Conducting security vulnerability assessments of designated facilities and operations and providing analysis to key stakeholders
- Conducting and managing a wide range of investigations in conjunction with other business units and law enforcement authorities which includes planned and unplanned investigations and interviews related to theft/shrinkage (internal and external) for Mars units and the preparation of appropriate documentation and recommendations as a result of incidents.
- Supporting the development of crisis response planning at designated locations.
- Assess and consult with units concerning effective policies and procedures for security operations.
- Promoting personal security awareness and delivering training related to this topic. Conduct security awareness training in accordance to the training program and guidelines of corporate Global Security and according to business units’ needs and requests
- Establishing and maintaining liaison with senior security managers in other large companies, regulatory authorities and law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain liaison with, and provide professional consultation to, local management and store operations teams.
- Understand historical and current/developing trends and the potential impact on the corporations’ associates, brands and assets.
- Be a close advisor to Plant Directors, HSE and P&O on all aspects of corporate, physical and crisis management security operations at all operational sites across all segments.
- Be able to communicate, written and verbal, in English and a working knowledge of some African local languages.
- This position requires an individual who has a broad range of managerial skills combined with an in-depth understanding of the corporate security and loss prevention fields.
- Must be able to exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels within an organisation.
- Effective at the preparation of documentation for submission and/or presentation to corporate leadership or governmental agencies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid customer service orientation.
- Able to work independently, setting priorities and meeting targets in accordance with managerial guidelines.
- Developed communication and presentation skills. Culturally sensitive, well-informed, and politically aware.
- This position will require domestic and international travel.

**What are we looking for?**:

- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
- Certified Security Management Professionals (CSMP®)
A minimum of 10 years-experience as a security professional with the military, law enforcement, intelligence agency, corporate, or non-governmental organizations.
- Management / team leader experience and experience supervising 3rd party vendors
- Providing protection services during high profile events and in high risk locations
- Extensive investigative and emergency response experience
