Maintenance & Utilities Manager - Johannesburg

**Number of Reports**:2

**Overall Responsibility**:
To lead, manage & co-ordinate the Maintenance effort and oversee the Utilities plant of the Brewery to achieve optimum Plant performance in the most safe, efficient manner. The management of SHE, Security, Project Management & Waste Management is included.

**Focus Area 1**

**Safety, Health & Environment Management**
- Ensure Plant conforms to OHS Act
- Support Occupational Hygiene, Safety and Sanitation drive
- Drive the Safety observation process
- Coordinate and deal with health and safety committees, department of labour, government bodies and regulating agencies
- Roll out SHE Pillar of the Manufacturing excellence program & champion the process
- Ensure all health & safety aspects are in place as per the company insurance requirements
- Build relationship with Fire Brigade & Cape Town Emergency Services & Disaster Management Team

**Focus Area 2**

**Lead and Manage Maintenance & Utilities Team**
- Support and entrench the company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance
- Inspire and motivate the broader SHP team (not just your direct reports) to deliver on goals and maximize individual and the overall company performance
- Lead the TNA and development of training plan in order to develop staff
- Coach and mentor staff to deliver functional competence
- Recruit, development and performance management of direct reports
- Communicate effectively in the workplace including to Shift teams
- Develop flexible multi skilled staff
- Develop and integrate SOP's into ways of work
- Site & Building maintenance kept in good order
- Manage the operation of all utilities plant & equipment
- Continuously optimise utilities process with the aim of reducing utilities cost Ensure CO2 collection process is optimised

**Focus Area 3**

**Manage Security, Site Services & Waste removal**
- Manage contract & performance of security, Cleaning & Waste removal company
- Ensure emergency systems (evacuation, fire alarms etc) are in proper use Gardens to be meticulously laid out and maintained to create a welcoming feel upon arrival to site

**Focus Area 4**

**Translate and implement Manufacturing excellence strategy**
- Fully understand the Manufacturing excellence strategy
- Develop and manage a ME roll out plan for Maintenance & Utilities
- Coach staff and call upon Pillar champions and experts to drive each Pillar of ME into Maintenance & Utilities
- Conduct Pillar self-assessments of the ME program and close gaps
- Support the Autonomous maintenance pillar roll out Champion the Maintenance pillar

**Focus Area 5**

**Champion the Maintenance Pillar roll out/implementation**
- With the assistance of the Manufacturing Director develop a Maintenance Pillar handbook and assessment sheet
- Ensure all maintenance staff are trained by Manufacturing Director on agreed maintenance practices and planning thereof
- Develop a Maintenance schedule upgrade plan for all equipment on site & roll out same with timelines
- Implement a maintenance window/day planning system incorporating all Production and Maintenance work - optimise maintenance window downtime
- Introduce basic condition monitoring checks to the maintenance program Introduce local manufacture of spares parts in an orderly way with accredited suppliers

**Focus Area 5**

**Project Management**
- Own and drive allocated Projects meeting deadlines
- Assist with planning forward of projects that are value add to the business

**Requirements of the Role Qualification**:

- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Science, or other relevant qualification
- Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in production, maintenance, and training environment
- Experience in managing employees
- GCC would be advantages

**Preferred Skills/Competencies**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
