Engineering & Maintenance is more than the maintenance or care of physical assets; it is a part of the core business of the organisation to ensure the assets perform their required function and allow Anglo American to meet its strategic, operational and compliance requirements.

**Job Description
- The Role**

We are looking for a **Principal Master Data **to centralise specific Engineering & Maintenance data and facilitate a data governance framework that outlines the policies, roles, and responsibilities for managing master data.

The role requires written and verbal fluency in English.

**Key role requirements**:

- Facilitate a data governance framework that outlines the policies, roles, and responsibilities for managing master data.
- Identify the different domains of master data within E&M (baseline asset tactics, refined asset tactics, specs, etc.).
- Assess the quality of existing master data, identifying inconsistencies, errors, and duplicates that need to be addressed.
- Define data standards, naming conventions, and rules for capturing, storing, and maintaining master data consistently.
- Assign data ownership responsibilities to individuals or teams who are accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the master data.
- Refine processes for data creation, validation, maintenance, and archival, ensuring adherence to data governance policies and standards.
- Define access controls and permissions to ensure appropriate data access and prevent unauthorized changes to master data.

**Qualifications
- Formal Qualifications**
- Required - An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.
- Desirable - A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline

**Technical skills / knowledge requirements**:

- Have a deep understanding of both Master Data principles and practices and the engineering & maintenance value chain and its key drivers.
- Previous experience as the custodian of master data within a large, complex organisation.
- Proven ability to put relevant strategies and practices in place to improve quality, standardisation and effectiveness of master data, ideally within a resources environment.
- Proven ability to educate and coach colleagues on master data standards and practices.
- Working knowledge of master data systems.
