Community Engagement Officer

THINK is recruiting for a Community Engagement Officer X 1 at our office in Hillcrest. The Community Engagement Officer will play a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships, mobilising communities and developmental changes. Their responsibilities will encompass a range of community engagement activities, including awareness campaigns, event coordination, community-led monitoring, advocacy efforts, and staff development. By connecting with local stakeholders and facilitating their active participation, the role will contribute to advancing our organisation's mission and goals.
**Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to**:
- Develop and implement strategies to raise community awareness about critical social issues and program objectives.
- Organise community engagement campaigns, workshops, and outreach activities to disseminate information and encourage community participation.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, meetings, workshops, and forums to encourage dialogue, collaboration, and sharing of ideas and perspectives.
- Participate and contribute to all district-level civil society engagements, including training, and meetings.
- Collect relevant data and information to monitor program effectiveness, compile progress reports, and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of community engagement activities, outcomes, and lessons learned for internal reporting and future program planning.
- Design and deliver training sessions for program staff, community leaders, and volunteers to enhance community engagement, communication, and advocacy skills.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to team members involved in community-related activities.
- Comply with all THINK rules and regulations and policies and procedures.
- Be passionate about making a difference and add value to THINK.
- Perform other duties as required.
**Requirements**:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field is required.
- Proven experience in community engagement, mobilisation, and development within an NGO or social programs environment.
- Familiarity with the local community and previous exposure to the civil society sector (Desirable).
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.
