**Country Controller**

We're hiring

Aon South Africa is recruiting a Country Controller in our Finance department based, on a hybrid basis, from our Head Offices in Sandton. The role of the Country Controller is to take responsibility for country related finance matters in South Africa, including consolidations, reporting, tax, internal control and management of the entire controller function for the group.

**What the day will look like**

Responsible for the group financial process and internal control review.

Responsible for leading and managing the business unit team, focusing on current year responsibilities as well as multi-year strategies and business plans.

Responsible for ensuring the day-to-day management of finance related operating functions in the controllership function as well as the technical fiduciary accounting function.

Liaison and integrating with and cooperating with other functions and business unit leaders in the business to drive broader strategies and initiatives in the organisation.

Responsible for internal and statutory reporting including group consolidated accounts and annual audit.

Responsible for group tax compliance and related administration.

Responsible for Treasury management in the group.

Responsible for risk management in the group.

Contributes to and participates in Aon-wide senior management groups, committees and ad-hoc project teams and other bodies as necessary

Mentoring and coaching of staff - driving employee engagement and transformation

**Skills and experience that will lead to success**

**Qualifications.**
- Be in possession of grade 12 (matric).
- Be in possession of a bachelor’s degree.
- Be a chartered accountant with five to eight years post qualifying experience.

**Knowledge.**
- A comprehensive knowledge of the South African and international short-term insurance markets.
- An in-depth strategic knowledge of industry and business strategies and company goals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting processes/IFRS/US GAAP and taxation regulations.
- High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Excel in particular).

**Skills and Attributes.**
- Ability to design good corporate governance practices and control environments.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Ability to work in and lead and manage teams.
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships stop

**Experience.**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or related environment.
- Minimum of five years managerial experience managing managers.
- Preferably have experience in the insurance industry.
