Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Agri Services Quality Manager, this individual will be functionally responsible to the Regional Quality Manager-Africa, for the maintenance of the Quality Management System at the South African AHK Laboratories. Reporting through to the local Regional Manager and maintaining the day-to-day quality requirements of the Laboratory, ensuring that protocols and procedures are aligned with the requirements of AHK management, local accreditation requirements and associated quality standards. Working closely with the Laboratory management teams to ensure that the Laboratory’s obligations to the AHK group, delivery of service to AHK clients, and accreditation commitments are realised.

**Required Competencies**
- Functional knowledge and understanding of the QMS implemented at the AHK Laboratory
- Functional knowledge of and understanding of the requirements pertaining to ISO 17020:2012 & GAFTA and other relevant quality management standards
- Functional knowledge and understanding of SANAS accreditation requirements
- Ability to demonstrate literacy and be numerate
- Adaptable
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Good timekeeping
- Develop and work with other team members to support all aspects of quality and operational plans.
- Work interdependently but also towards team goals, understanding priorities and pressures.

- Attend regular progress meetings with agreed and relevant parties.

**Required Qualifications**
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor of Science or Agriculture would be an advantage

**Required Work Experience**
- Desirable experience of working within the agricultural and chemistry industries.
- Previous experience in dealing with clients.
- In-depth knowledge of Agricultural Quality Standards & latest Government Regulations.
- 10 years minimum experience in analytical chemistry, specific to Agricultural commodities.
- 5 years minimum experience of developing and maintaining QMS in relation to ISO 17020:2012 and/or 17025:2017 accreditation.

**Travel**
- Local and regional travel, generally no more than two weeks per trip, will be required at times.
- Must have a valid driver's licence.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the management and successful maintenance of ISO17020:2012 and GAFTA accreditations and all associated visits and corrective actions.
- The management and control of all aspects relating directly to the AHK Agricultural Services quality management system (QMS), relevant publications, ISO standards, quality manual and its supporting documentation. This includes the effective management of amendments, records in review and obsolete documents.
- Compilation and implementation of the Laboratory’s quality protocols and procedures, through the quality manual in accordance with accreditation and **ISO17020:2012**:

- Schedule review of all QMS documents, technical methodology and procedures to ensure that they are current and fit for purposes.
- Management of AHK Laboratory internal QMS auditing programme and auditing team including the co-ordination of external accreditation audits, subsequent corrective action and general correspondence with relevant accreditation bodies; when relevant the co-ordination of other third
- party audits
- Ensuring the Quality administrators and audit teams are sufficiently motivated, skilled, and appropriately trained to meet the needs of AHK, its clients, and its accreditation requirements.
- Ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance with documented methods and procedures. It is the post holder's responsibility to inform Senior Management of any failure in compliance with the company's operating practices and policies.
- Management of investigations relating to instances of non-conforming test work, complaints, preventive action and improvements, ensuing sufficient documented records are maintained.
- In the event of doubt in the validity of reported analytical results will investigate and, in consultation with Laboratory management and other personnel, initiate corrective/preventative action.
