Can you spend 40% of your time travelling into Africa? Our client is a vibrant global business focusing on increasing their footprint throughout the African continent. Boasting a strong track record of internal promotion and career development, being the exact cause for this vacancy in the Real Estate Team. This position reports into the MENA Chief Development Officer.
The Africa Development Manager they are looking to appoint will be responsible for the new store and remodelling pipelines within Africa. This includes forecasting and management to ensure the right sites are identified for new outlets, re-builds, relocations and refurbishments. Building a strong relationship with your master franchisee's is also essential in order to persuade them of the accuracy of the market planning data which will assist you in selecting the most viable options.
Some sites will be within existing or developing malls, but many sites will be standalone buildings for the restaurants exclusive use. You will therefore need to be conversant in both leasing and full cycle property development.
You will also need to spend a good amount of time travelling in the region to assist in gathering accurate information about local conditions for market planning to assess. Working with your internal design team, you will oversee the building projects, as well as assisting the franchisee's project manager. You will need to understand the challenges of the processes involved in timeous project delivery. This includes establishing a reliable network of local suppliers and contractors and understanding the internal operations and procurement process in order to utilise it optimally.
This role would suit a Degreed, critical and strategic thinker with experience building business economic models. Ideally you will have worked in emerging markets and have a proven track record of working independently to create world class building projects. 6+ years of experience in Retail Business Development with exposure to lease negotiations and/or land buying will also be necessary.
