-The Faculty of Humanities seeks a Staff Development Coordinator to develop excellence in teaching and learning in the Humanities Faculty, through the enhancement of academics as university teachers.

The Staff Development Coordinator will report to the Assistant Deans of the Faculty and work closely with senior leaders, lecturers and teaching and learning/ blended learning specialists in the Faculty to help establish a clear curriculum and pedagogical vision and strategy for professional staff development in the faculty.

The Staff Development Coordinator will be responsible for collaborating with schools, departments, and staff across the Faculty to establish structures for the implementation of high-quality and pedagogically sound courses. With the move to blended learning courses, the Staff Development Coordinator needs to work with the Blended/ Online Learning Co-ordinator to develop pedagogical strategies for working productively with teaching staff and for developing staff development programmes.

This will be a permanent post.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- In consultation with key stakeholders, assist in the development of a comprehensive teaching, learning and assessment vision congruent with the University Teaching and learning plan in light of the changes brought about during and after the pandemic.
Together with the Blended/ Online Learning Co-ordinator, drive the transition to blended pedagogy, methodology and course production. Induct new staff members and tutors into the teaching role in the Faculty.
Develop a Faculty Tutor and Academic Intern Training programme specific to disciplines within the faculty. This would also involve blended and online tutoring.
Offer workshops and seminars on the development of teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment in the Faculty. Some of these would be generic while others will be tailormade to specific disciples.
Help individual staff to acquire knowledge and skills which will allow them to carry out their current teaching duties with maximum effectiveness.
Facilitate continuous professional development for teaching staff through enrolment on CLTD workshops and short courses and attendance at Higher Education conferences
Consult with individual staff members addressing issues mentioned above as well as developing teaching portfolios and other specific challenges that staff may be experiencing.
Teach / supervise at undergraduate or postgraduate level in own disciplinary field and in Higher Education courses.
Help individuals or groups of staff to be innovative and creative and to deal positively and productively with the demands placed on them by transformation, organizational change and development
Undertake research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

**Preference is given to people with a track record of**:

- working with academics at all levels of a HE institution
implementing innovative and time pressured solutions to emergent problems
developing strategic plans
managing a support team/staff
SOTL project involvement

- Advanced LMS skills including basic html coding
Postgraduate research supervision experience

**Qualifications and experience**:

- PhD from a humanities discipline

- A deep understanding of academic staff development and ability to work with academic staff members to support and enhance their skills as university teachers
Ability to evaluate the teaching competency of staff at all levels, from Associate Lecturers to Full Professors.
Experience with learning management systems like Canvas and teaching staff to use such tools
Ability to communicate and motivate change to improve teaching and student learning experiences in the Faculty of Humanities; organizational and presentation skills; self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team; computer and technology literacy: ability to write excellent reports.
