**Job Purpose**:
The Training Officer will support the L&D Unit in the section by assisting in the implementation of the L&D strategy in the MSF-SnA Office. This will be done through the execution of various L&D responsibilities and tasks to increase the efficiency of the day-to-day running of the Unit, working together with both the L&D Manager and the Head of L&D.

The main purpose of this role is to perform and provide administrative support to the L&D team and the MSFSnA Section. The Training Officer responsibilities will include providing a administrative role in the collection of documentation, filing and compilation of monthly reports, records of training courses and learning programs. The incumbent will also support all L&D activities connected to the employee development cycle as outlined in the key responsibilities. This role should allow the Training Officer to develop their career in L&D and get a closer look at how L&D functions in an organization.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**

**General L&D**:

- Following the development life cycle of the employee support, advise and when required implement relevant processes related to L&D activities.
- Organize the compulsory Welcome to MSF Onboarding and Tembo briefings for all new staff.
- Compile accurate information for the monthly L&D report and the consolidations of the regional Detachment reports.
- Assist in organising L&D Committee Meetings and compilation of documentation and reports for the quarterly meetings.
- Participate in team meetings, prepares minutes and help to coordinate follow-up activities.

**Learning and Development**:

- Support in performing learning needs assessments and determining appropriate content for target groups for trainings.
- Organize and coordinate the logistics and administrative activities of all training and development activities for staff and provide training and development information to staff as per approved courses.
- Assist internal or external Facilitators/Trainers in the smooth running of actual training courses in the Section as well as the Region and may deliver training courses himself/herself when required.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all training activities within the Section and follow-up that trainings are done by staff member.
- Support the L&D Manager in creating and continuously updating a training plan for the Section.
- Gather information on the learning activities (with pre-post-test evaluations, feedback from participants), and report problems, success and constraints to the L&D Manager.
- Compile a database for external training providers/ courses.
- For the Section collate quantitative data and fill in the forms for regular and annual reports required for statutory Employment Equity (EE) and Workplace Skills Development (SD) Plans for Submission under the supervision of the L&D Manager.

**Internship Program**:

- Assist the L&D Manager liaise with Heads of Departments the number and type of interns required per cycle.
- Proactively engage with the Health and Welfare SETA on internship funding opportunities, including drafting of proposals in collaboration with L&D Manager.
- Assist in the implementation, orientation program and evaluation sessions with the guidance of the L&D Manager.
- In collaboration with the L&D Manager arrange/Facilitate sessions on soft skills such as communication, time management and problem-solving to maximize on-the-job experiences.
- Gather relevant data for assessment of the Internship to recommend improvements.

**Role Requirements**

**Qualifications**:

- **Bachelor’s degree (required) in Human Resources or a related field.**:

- Professional registration in SDF (added advantage).
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and all other basic MS office software.

**Experience, Knowledge & Skills**:

- Knowledge of South African Labour Law (LRA & BCEA). Employment Equity, SETAS and BBBEE Reporting.
- Well-versed with the employee life cycle and its related L&D processes.
- Experience in delivering basic-level training courses based on adult learning.
- Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods.
- Languages: English (fluent, spoken/written).
- It is preferred that the incumbent has experience working for MSF or other NGOs.
