As a Health and Benefits Consultant working with clients in South Africa, you will consult on a wide variety of complex projects involving the design, pricing, funding, implementation and management of a full array of Health and Benefits programs including life, disability, retirement and flexible benefits. You will serve as the project manager and day to day communication liaison with our clients, create client deliverables, contribute to client management and new business activities and participate in the creation of new intellectual capital.

**The Role**

The primary responsibility of this position is to consult to our corporate clients on matters related to employee benefits (retirement and risk benefits). The corporate Benefits consultant provides day to day advisory/consulting, brokerage and administrative services to the employer while also dealing directly with the employees on query resolution, employee communication projects, claims escalation and other administrative related tasks.

- To put the interests of clients and the integrity of the market at the heart of the way you do business

**Excellence**
- Provide valued-added consulting expertise on large, sophisticated projects as well as small and medium sized enterprises; including plan re-design, pricing and funding and employee contributions strategies, benchmarking studies and negotiations, plan renewals and vendor analysis and management.
- Contribute to projects within the Health and Benefits arena including Retirement, disability/absence management and claims audits when appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches for complex clients.

**Financial**
- Meet revenue and billable hour goals established with your manager.
- Support the generation of new business by enhancing relationships with current clients and recommending new projects and solutions.
- Participate in prospecting opportunities with new clients as part of a broader team.

**People**
- Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams and across different teams and geographies.
- Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels.
- Coach colleagues in the region on the nuances of the role and coverage.

**The Requirements**
- 10+ years’ experience and success in the design/management of employee benefits plans gained in a consulting, brokerage or carrier environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree or insurance industry related Diploma preferred
- Strong financial skills; prior experience in healthcare product pricing, underwriting or valuation work preferred.
- Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated success in managing client issues and relationships; some experience in growing relationships with current clients.
- Strong technical consulting and brokerage skills
- Strong experience in retirement consulting and risk benefits brokerage
- Strong Microsoft Office suite skills
- Process orientated mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy
- Client centric with strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Polished and well developed oral and written communication skills
- Self-starter attitude and ability to work with ambiguity
- Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
- Strong analytical and creative skills
- FAIS compliant, Regulatory exam certificate (NQF Level 5 minimum) - RE5 at a minimum
- South African Citizen or holder of Permanent Residency in South Africa
