Regional Claims Manager

Carrying out periodical portfolio technical audits of Business Units to establish the level of compliance to best practice, quality standards and prudence in Claims management.
- Provide support in the management of large complex claims across the Business Units in order to achieve best outcomes, including strong liaison with the applicable reinsurers.
- Establish processes and procedures in handling large claims such as engineering.
- Active Collaboration with the ROA Regional Underwriting Manager in ensuring that risk onboarding (especially/specialty) large risks are onboarded and reinsured prudently so as to avert large exposures to the group. This includes advise on policy wording.
- Assists claim managers to correctly set and regularly review claims reserves as well reserving methodology, including interrogating adequacy of legacy claims reserves.
- Ensure that claim managers monitor the performance of contracted third party service providers for effective service delivery as per agreed SOPs and SLAs.
- Constantly analyze the performance of various classes of business and give recommendations to management on corrective measures to ensure the company remains profitable.
- Advice on emerging risks and impact on claims management e.g., climate change.
- Ensure that reinsurance claim recoveries are initiated and followed to conclusion within the set time limits so as to reduce the final cost of the claim.
- Explore the best alternative of dealing with claims so as to minimize claim expenses and costs.
- Ensure that countries put measures to enable customers have a pleasant experience with our claim processes.
- Prepare management reports for the P&C Forum and other relevant forums
- Review claim budgets, forecasts and participate in RoA business planning and strategy development.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and coach claim managers
- Assist on the continuous improvement in claims administration and management, improvement/enhancement of the entire claim value chain.
- Drive adoption of modern technology in automation and digitization of the claim value chain e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics and Telematics in vetting claims and detecting fraud. This would involve contracting of suitable vendors for this purpose.
- Rendering technical support and advise in the handling of large legal claim cases across ROA.
- Training/coaching/mentorship of claim managers and claim teams.
- Participate in products development initiatives.
- Carry out ad-hoc assignments from time to time as may be required.
**Desired Experience & Qualification**
- Bachelors degree.
- ACII qualifications or equivalent qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years.
