Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 9/5/2023- Job PurposeSARETEC is mandated with training technicians at NQF Level 5 QCTO accredited training. The training Department within SARETEC has recently had encountered resignations of two trainers and as thus needs recruitment and appointment of an electrical (electrician, electrical fitter, electronic technician, instrument technician, mechatronics, or similar level) instructor/trainer. Electrical/Electronic knowledge forms a core part of the renewable energy industry as it applies to construction, generation systems and electrical/electronical or maintenance work. The electrical/electronic trainer will report to the Operations Manager via the Training Supervisor and will be responsible for conveying knowledge and experience in this field to trainees by means of conducting lectures in the electrical/electronic elements of renewable energies, while continually assessing the progress of trainees via formative, summative and practical assessments. The key performance focus area is detailed below.
- Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Bachelor’s degree/ BTech degree or national diploma in engineering qualification with electrical/electronic trade certificate and coupled with 3+ years or more technical trade experience or
- Qualified Electrical/Electronic Artisan (electrician, electrical fitter, electronic technician, instrument technician, mechatronics or similar level) with 5+ years or more experience in Electrical/Electronic Artisan trades, such as(electrician, electrical fitter, electronic technician, instrument technician, mechatronics or similar level) (preferred).
- Recommended: Qualified Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator.
- Recommended: Experience in Renewable energies.
- Recommended: Vocational Training and/or Education experience.
- Knowledge of SETA processes and audit experience.
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Ensure that all equipment for training is installed, maintained and available for use in training.
- Ensure that sufficient electrical and electronic spares and consumables are kept in stores.
- Monitor training needs and gaps for individuals and groups and makes recommendations for solutions to bridge the gaps.
- Manage maintenance schedules of the electrical/electronic equipment.
- Promotes health and safety awareness and standards.
- Maintain records of trainees’ portfolios of competencies, training records and provide training support,
- Establish and maintain contacts with external training providers and service partners.
- Assist in development of standard operating procedures, policy and practice regard training and development.
- Keep up and maintenance of ISO 9001 system in terms of processes and conformance.
- Conduct stock taking of mechanical equipment, components and consumables.
- Design lists for the issuing of test equipment and components.
- Manage housekeeping of labs and workshops.
- Maintaining equipment inventory registry applicable to training area.
- Obtain quotes for all technical equipment, components, and spares.
- Initiate the process for the ordering of technical, components and spares.
- Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is submitted to SARETEC finance.
- Deliver assigned courses to trainees by conducting competency based, classroom and workshop lessons to impart knowledge and skills to the standards required.
- Develop and update electrical/electronic course educational materials by producing materials (preparing course books, workbooks, teaching aids, practical facilities etc.) to ensure the quality of training being delivered.
- Develop various types of assessment tools by preparing tests, assignments, practical exercises, checklists, projects, etc. to assess competency.
- Identify material/equipment required for electrical/electronic courses, by analyzing course contents and preparing procurement orders to ensure effective course delivery.
- Continually assess and moderate the progress of the trainees.
- Assist in the development of the elements of courses.
- Assist in the development of the elements of courses.
- Designing fixtures & jigs for laboratory sessions.
