**Formulation testi**ng - carry out tests according to protocols, capture results and provide feedback to R&D chemist.
- **Registration & Shelf-Life Testing** - prepare products for testing according to receipts and protocols per product, liaise with contact person for each institution to send product for testing, package and organise transport.
- **Novel Microbial Product R&D**:

- **Discovery - **Isolate microbes from selected plant material or soil on an ad hoc basis; prepare and send isolates for identification; store isolates on positive identification; conduct laboratory testing according to protocol, experimental design or guideline and capture results and relay to R&D Chemist.
- **Development **- Conduct laboratory testing; conduct pot trials under greenhouse or tunnel conditions; participate in field trial set-ups, sampling and monitoring; capture all results and relay to R&D Chemist.
- **Production Scale-Up - **Conduct lab testing and capture all results and relay to R&D Chemist.
- **Affiliated Company Product Testing** - conduct lab testing and pot trials under greenhouse or tunnel conditions; participate in field trial set-ups, sampling and monitoring; capture results and relay to R&D Chemist.
- **Body of Knowledge **- Communicate learnings and observations regularly and participate in training sessions.
- **Laboratory Administration - **Assist with and execute on report writing, portfolio compilations for certification, legislative and regulatory needs; assist with routine external audits; prepare quotes for and order lab consumables, small equipment and other items required; manage R&D Biologicals internal budget, keep track of spending/month via Excel.
- **Comparative Testing -** Prepare and execute testing of samples; capture results, write up report and relay report and raw data to R&D Development Chemist; isolate microbes from affected plant material on ad hoc basis; prepare and end isolates for identification and store isolates as soon as positive identification made.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Grade 12 with post matric qualification of a B.Sc Agric with at least 3rd year Plant pathology modules completed.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in research and microbial formulation.
- Computer literate in MS Office (Word/Excel)
- Must have proven microbial research skills
- Ability to solve problems systematically
- Must possess an understanding of the general agricultural formulations in existence, e.g. EC’s, SC’s, SL’s, WP’s, TB’s, etc.
- Reasonable inter-personal skills.
- Must possess general chemical production environment knowledge
- Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) and report writing skills
- General knowledge of Act 36 of 1947
- Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standards/requirements advantageous
- Ability to work within a team as well as autonomously
- Possess a positive attitude
