The role of a quality control/ food safety intern is to assist on maintaining quality management, food safety, health, and safety standards. Your key areas of responsibility and performance as a quality control intern include, and is not limited to:
1. Monitoring of cleaning and sanitizing programs: Your primary responsibility is to monitor and follow-up that cleaning and sanitising has taken place in different areas, including floors, surfaces, windows, furniture, appliances, and fixtures. This involves dusting, vacuuming, mopping, wiping, and using designated cleaning chemicals to ensure a clean and germ-free environment.

2. Assist and monitor waste management: Proper disposal of waste is crucial. You should be knowledgeable about different types of waste and their appropriate disposal methods. This may include sorting recyclables, emptying trash bins, and ensuring compliance with waste management guidelines.

3. Assist and monitor health and safety compliance: Familiarize yourself with health and safety regulations. Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous substances, use personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, and report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

4. Organization and Time Management: Efficiently manage your time to complete cleaning tasks within allocated schedules. Ensure that areas are well-organized, free of clutter, and presentable to maintain a positive image for the facility.

5. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and clients. Be responsive to their requests or concerns and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a cohesive and efficient cleaning process.

6. Monitor equipment maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, and scrubbers, to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any malfunctioning equipment and follow appropriate maintenance procedures.

7. Attention to Detail: Pay close attention to details while cleaning, ensuring no spots are missed and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. This includes noticing and addressing areas that require special attention, such as stains, spills, or high-traffic areas.

8. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by being courteous, respectful, and professional when interacting with clients or occupants. Address any concerns or feedback promptly and strive to meet or exceed their expectations.

Reporting to: Food Safety Officer

Qualifications/Experience required: Matric (Grade 12), studying towards a Degree/Diploma/BTech in Food Science, Food Technology or Consumer Science: Food & Nutrition.

**Salary**: R4 000,00 - R5 000,00 per month
