**_ Position Purpose:_**
- To develop, establish and manage a comprehensive enterprise performance management system for Transnet and its
operating divisions, including working with business owners and end user community to ensure implementation of the
- Corporate Plan.
**_ Position outputs:_**
Performance Management System
- Develop, implement and manage an enterprise-wide performance management framework for the execution of Transnet
Strategy and Corporate Plan.
- Ensure deployment of digital performance management solutions to drive the integrity and reliability of data.
- Develop and manage a performance management system focusing on strategic segments to ensure sustained profitability
of these segments.
- Lead the development of appropriate Key Performance Indicators and Targets for key segments and corridors in
partnership with Operating Divisions.
- Design an integrated and interactive (real-time) outputs performance dashboard that tracks, analyses, monitors, and
visually displays key business metrics
- Develop and implement robust and forward-looking performance risk management processes to guide management
interventions.
- Develop and implement periodic performance evaluation process across operating division and strategic segments to
extract key lessons from programmes that were implemented
- Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics
- Develop and implement tools for the effective monitoring of performance in key segments, corridors, operating divisions
and enabling corporate functions.
- Identify and deploy resources to focus on specific segments/corridors and provide an integration approach to understand
the bigger picture.
- Be deliberate in monitoring the commercial performance of key segments and corridors to provide meaningful information
to the business.
- Ensure participation in all key segment/corridor forums for in depth understanding of the commercial and operational
environment of such segments/corridors.
- Implement performance diagnostic capabilities through employment of technical expertise to validate performance plans
and reports
- Conduct special performance diagnostics projects to drill down on the pain points and provide recommendations to EXCO
for appropriate interventions
- Strategic Reporting
- Ensure qualitative reports that comply with the statutory and non-statutory reporting requirements.
- Develop periodic performance reports for the executive committee and other governance structures, containing strategic
performance analysis and recommendations to guide discussions on performance issues.
- Prepare regular diagnostic reports with clear recommendations for management.
- Integrate all the critical flows of work from data analytics, diagnostics and performance analysis to build a structured but
concise report for EXCO.
- Achieving all targets to the Corporate Plan is a critical challenge facing this position.
- With the size of the company, the objective should always be to ensure that systems and partnerships are harnessed to
improve company performance.
- This must be done in the context of a very complex operating model where there are risks of duplication and subtle
resistance are prevalent.
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and any other related field - Post Graduate degree or CA (SA) will be an advantage
- Minimum 12 years’ working experience
- Minimum 3 years must be at management level.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in enterprise-wide performance management, performance analysis and reporting.
- Excellent eye for detail and written communications
- Experience in building data management systems
- Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
- Standard Job Requirements- Driver’s license code 08
- Travel as required and approved
