PRE-REQUISITE EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional qualification/degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Attained Pr.QS or MRICS accreditation. (or eligible to attain within 12 months).
  • Minimum of 15 years' industry experience – Renewable Energy sector, contractor experience preferential.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing multiple projects.
  • Must have extensive civil, mechanical, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation experience.
  • Must be computer literate, specifically working with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experienced in managing and leading a multicultural group/team.
  • Proven experience in conflict avoidance, entitlement appraisal and dispute resolution.
  • Conversant with operating in a 'Functionally' structured organization.
  • Knowledge & understanding of contract law and commercial/contracts management.

  • Analytical skills associated with developing and utilising performance measures and cost savings.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Commercial and contract management/administration skills.
  • Project controls and planning.
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience in various construction contracting models.

REPORTING LINES

  • Functional reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager.
  • Direct reporting to the Project Commercial Manager.

COMPETENCIES

  • Lead a team or project commercial department.
  • Follows and complies with company and project procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, perform budget validations and project cost forecasts in granular detail.
  • Ensure maximum profitability on projects under his/her control by pro-actively approaching your duties and exercising commercial acumen.
  • Prepare cash flows and update as necessary. Analyze timing of sales and costs.
  • Ensure good working relationships with clients.
  • Promote and maintain high professional standards with regards administration and document presentation.
  • Compile monthly reports as directed by the Commercial Manager.
  • Lead the identification of risks and opportunities on the project and to the company.
  • Carry out monthly measures on site and prepare interim evaluations to include all values related to labour, materials management, plant and equipment and escalation.
  • Monitor progress on site to ensure that, where applicable, claims for recovery of loss and expense are submitted timeously and agreed with the client, liaising with the Project Manager, and referring to the appropriate conditions of the contract.
  • Highlight to the Commercial Manager areas in which target cost and sales are not being achieved by means of a monthly report.
  • Monitor, mentor and develop junior employees.
  • Support the Project Manager on maintaining project management documentation (Project Management Plan (PMP), Risk Management Plan (RMP), Scope of Works (SOW), WBS Dictionary, Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM), etc.).
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Works autonomously with direct supervision.
  • Travel to the various project sites as required.
  • Liaise with the project and contractor teams to ensure consistent basis for all project costs/plans.
