This role combines technical oversight, operational excellence, and team leadership – perfect for someone who still enjoys being close to the technology while enabling others to excel. Your role and responsibilities Infrastructure Management Oversee day‑to‑day management of web and application servers (Windows & predominantly Linux with a few Windows environments). Support database environments across MSSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis and ELK and cloud‑native databases such as DynamoDB. Maintain and optimise virtualisation platforms, virtual machines, Docker environments, and Kubernetes clusters. Ensure effective load balancing, traffic routing, and service mesh utilisation. Support high‑availability architecture, multi‑site deployments, and failover strategies. Oversee replication of code, content, and data environments. Monitor and uphold quality‑of‑service for large‑scale, internet‑facing applications. Manage cloud‑based infrastructure with strong practical experience in AWS and familiarity with Azure. Oversee incident response workflows, including first‑line escalations and quality control of operational processes. Work with the CTO to maintain the strategic direction of the infrastructure landscape, ensuring alignment to business needs and technology roadmaps. Lead DevOps practices: automated deployments, CI/CD improvement, environment management, and release reliability. Ensure cloud and platform security best practices are embedded across environments. Manage and mentor a team across infrastructure. Collaborate closely with Engineering teams within agile development cycles. Closely manage and report on cloud costs and continuously optimise expenses. You are an ideal candidate if you have 5+ years experience in infrastructure, systems administration, or DevOps roles. 3+ subsequent years in a leadership role. Strong technical leadership with the ability to guide cross‑functional teams. Experience managing highly available, internet‑facing systems at scale. Strong grasp of how the internet, distributed web applications, containerised environments, and cloud platforms function. Practical experience with SQL Server, Redis, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL datastores, including cloud‑native databases. Proficiency across both Linux and Windows server environments. Solid understanding of IT security principles, particularly in regulated or PCI DSS environments. Experience with cloud architecture patterns and effective utilisation of cloud‑managed services. Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead teams through incidents and operational challenges. Well‑organised, detail‑oriented, and comfortable balancing tactical work with strategic initiatives. Your skills and competencies You eagerly embrace change, absorb cross‑functional skills, and connect ideas across disciplines to drive fresh thinking and innovation. Ability to initiate, develop, maintain and leverage outstanding relationships to influence a wide network, both inside and outside the company. You thrive in collaboration, embrace inclusion, and bring a genuine curiosity for global cultures—valuing collective success over individual credit. You challenge norms, champion innovation, and constantly seek growth—for yourself, your team, and the solutions you build. You are a decisive doer—those who take initiative, follow through with confidence, and ensure results through courageous, hands‑on leadership. We value optimism, agility, and the strength to persevere under pressure—balancing performance with positivity, even in challenging environments. You are driven, proactive individuals who take ownership, face challenges with grit, and consistently push for excellence—not just as participants, but as catalysts for success. During the interview process you will meet with the People team, the hiring manager, and relevant C‑Suite. Be prepared to complete a technical assessment that will showcase your skills.
