Role Title: MyPlayers Player Development Manager (PDM) at the Bulls Daisies, Leopards, EP Elephants, and Border Bulldogs – Independent contractor, part-time position in Gauteng. Primary Job Purpose: The primary goal is to oversee and drive the MyPlayers programme within the designated regions (Bulls Daisies, Leopards, EP Elephants and Border Bulldogs). Job Responsibilities: Managing the MyPlayers Programme and fostering strong player/administrator relationships within the respective unions. Direct oversight of various strategies with defined performance benchmarks, including: Dual career planning and support for players within the MyPlayers Bursary Programme or currently pursuing studies. Provision of life skills through personalized or group wellness workshops and assistance. Facilitating access to specialized support and counselling for players. Coordination of specific support programs aimed at player development. Providing support for player transition post-rugby. Organizing workshops covering topics that address the 3 pillars of our Player Development Programme (Personal Growth, Dual Career Paths, and Wellbeing). Ensuring timely submission of comprehensive monthly reports to the NPDM. Coordinating and implementing strategies directed by the NPDM. Conducting 1-on-1 pre-season meetings with each player to complete or update the Player Development Status Report (PDSR) submitted to the NPDM. Drafting or revising Personal Development Plans (PDP) for players based on initial meetings and ongoing engagement. Quarterly reviews of PDPs with players and the NPDM. Regular physical presence (at least twice a month) with the teams. Maintaining regular telephonic/electronic contact with players, discussing individual needs and monitoring season plans. Offering relevant personal and professional development training tailored to individual or team requirements. Maintaining up-to-date Personal Development Status Reports and individual Personal Development Plans for each player. Providing reports for inclusion in MyPlayers Annual Reports and Board reports as needed. Understanding and embodying the aims and objectives of MyPlayers while maintaining independence within the team structure. Developing an operational plan for service delivery within the unions. Regular meetings with team management to discuss player/team needs, issues, and updates. Managing job shadowing and internship opportunities. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology; registration with HPCSA is advantageous. Honours/Masters Degree in Psychology/Industrial Psychology would be beneficial. 3-4 years of relevant working experience. Ability to speak at least one African Language (preferably isiXhosa or Sesotho). Competitive/professional sporting background is advantageous. Skills Required: Counselling and coaching expertise. Professional demeanor, positive attitude, excellent customer service, and team leadership qualities. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, adept at multitasking, managing projects, and people. Proficiency in presentation and training. Ability to make on-the-spot decisions with sound judgment. Effective time management. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint. Time Requirements: Approximately 20 - 25 hours per week on average throughout the year.
