Requirements

Grade 12 plus National Diploma (NQF Level 6)/ Bachelor Degree (NQF Level 7) in Financial Accounting / Financial Management.

1-2 years' relevant experience in the field of Asset Management environment OR Grade 12 plus more than 10 years' experience in Asset Management.


Must have a valid driver's license COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), knowledge of database management, understanding of clients / customer expectations, knowledge of asset and warehouse keeping, knowledge of security and risk management.

Must be Computer literacy, Willingness to work irregular hours when required, Self-confidence and assurance in his/her own ability and being able to meet commitments and objectives of the Department and produce the required results.

Duties


Manage departmental assets effectively, efficiently and economically, Identification of obsolete/ redundant / damaged items and ensure write off and disposal of these items, Ensuring detail ledger/s balances with each receipt, disposal (including BAS/Asset Register Reconciliation).

Receive, bar-code and capture all the newly acquired assets.

On a monthly basis the incumbent will prepare BAS / Asset register reconciliation and ensure that reconciling items are promptly resolved.

Arrange delivery of purchased items and the bar-coding there-off, Assist in adherence to Asset Management's reporting requirements as determined by the National and / or provincial treasury.

Conduct monthly asset spot checks; Ensure that the Asset register is maintained and kept accurate all the time; Ensure all asset movement are accounted for immediately, Co-ordinate and perform physical asset verification; Investigation and corrective action concerning unverified assets.

Assist in resolving Audit, queries on assets and ensures completeness and accuracy; execute any other asset related functions assigned to from time to time.

Assist in preparation of quarterly and yearly asset disclosure note.
